I got the first eight series of Red Dwarf on Blu Ray for £25. That's 52 episodes, extended versions, an extra disc which I think is an audio of an unmade episode, a booklet and a ton of other features. £55 for half the episodes, flimsy packaging (sorry, but the glue holding the disc container against the box is terrible. The container has fallen off on two separate boxsets) and a bunch of extras that probably won't be too dissimilar from the ones on the DVD. I'll stick with my DVDs which should last a long time if looked after. Besides, owning Underworld on any format will only taint my collection.

Meh. I guess Fang Rock is good, and Sun Makers is hilarious. I pass on every other story. Invisible Enemy is dull, Fendahl makes it up as it goes along (very New Who-y in that regard), Underworld is a CSO nightmare and Invasion of Time's good ideas are wasted on a lacklustre budget. Should've saved the story for another time. Leela staying on Gallifrey to marry some guard is THE textbook example of bad companion departures. The show was very clearly running on fumes by now and begging for something new, which it fortunately got with season 16, a far superior season. I love Season 15. It's a nice bridge between the hammer horror stuff of Hinchcliffe and the more comedic adventures like The Sun Makers that would eventually define the Williams era. Apart from Underworld I think it holds up pretty well. Season 17 is and will always be my favourite Williams season. I'm making my way through it at the moment and it's just so magical. I wish Tom and Lalla had travelled together for at least three seasons. |

Am very glad indeed that Tom's Season 15 is getting a bluey release. I see the great Fang Rock will offer some optional new effects. While I welcome any (optional) new effects for these new releases, it does seem a glaring omission that new effects aren't available for Underworld - a story certainly crying out for some enhancing after all! For an example of just how enhancement can be done most effectively, I suggest checking out cunningmunki's stuff on YouTube. Now just why the BBC can't treat their classic stuff with such respect and imagination is really annoying. Presumably though they just prefer to waste their ill-gotten licence money by concentrating on further atrocious series of so called "Doctor Who" poisoned with modern woke crap  |

The Fitzroyers spent all those years bitching about what an embarrassment Underworld was, yet when presented with two opportunities to improve it, fourteen years apart, they decided on both occasions that they just couldn't be bothered. I'd still rather watch the whole damn thing on a loop for 24 hours than sit through a single episode these c*nts have shat out since 2017.

The Fitzroyers spent all those years bitching about what an embarrassment Underworld was, yet when presented with two opportunities to improve it, fourteen years apart, they decided on both occasions that they just couldn't be bothered. I'd still rather watch the whole damn thing on a loop for 24 hours than sit through a single episode these c*nts have shat out since 2017. The first episode of Underworld isn't even that bad. It is the worst Williams story, but at least it wasn't made by people who have undisguised contempt for the audience. |
