Frankly, i think the elephant in the room here that we need to open up a conversation about is British television's historic trope of portraying Welshmen as cowardly imbeciles. After all, it's 2023, and i think Russell T. Davies needs to consider this harmful tradition and where he stands in relation to it...

Is there a reason this YouTube video has no likes...? Apologies- I f*cked up here. My device wasn't loading properly at the time and didn't display the number of likes. However, last I checked, this had 1k likes and 2.1k dislikes...

Yeah, but I'm sure the media will still say we're the ones in the minority... They'll probably say we hate-bombed it. The only problem with that argument is the people that reviewed his recent utterances are the very disabled people he claims to be being nice to now by changing Davros! I almost prefer the RTD who used 'ming-mong' as an insult, at least he wasn't patronising as well as being obnoxious and overrated...

Oh my good gawd! The Telegraph, the supposed fighters of 'wokeness' said the following about the Children In Need 'special' (if they weren't in need before it they f*cking well would be after!)
"Especially on Children in Need night, when issues of disability and otherness come right to the front of the conversation.” The dexterity and verve of his writing ensured that it felt far from po-faced or worthy. Indeed, the subtext would have shot straight over many viewers' heads."
The subtext would have done what!? Even RTD's reviews have a homoerotic suggestion to them!

What "subtext" are they even talking about? There's absolutely no commentary on anything in that five minute waste of digital celluloid, and certainly nothing on disability. They've solely extrapolated this "subtext" from Davies' pompous self-aggrandisement which followed. The Telegraph support this bollocks because it doesn't threaten the status-quo at all. It's not progressive. It's an Oxbridge media darling wallowing in his self-righteousness via confected stupidity, no different to David Cameron warbling on about "hugging a hoody" when trying to sell himself as a 'progressive' Tory.

Apologia from the Radio Times: www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-davros-change-disabled-fans-comment/And who commissioned that character? The reaction need not have occurred if Davros hadn't been used at all. All he needed to do- if he wanted to address anti-disability sentiment- was create new endearing, nuanced and empathetic disabled characters. Retroactively altering the image of an almost 50 year old character- whose original conception had nothing to do with Davies in the first place- reeks of sanctimoniousness and self-aggrandisement. No, he doesn't. He exists in that form to: 1. Offer a contextual focal point for the Dalek designs. 2. Signal that he- as a leading intellectual and military figure within the Kaled/Thal conflict- is both a physical perpetrator and a recipient of war. His injuries are a symptom- not the cause- of his embrace of fascism. It is also worth noting that a core paradox exists at the heart of the Daleks which explains this decision further. They are preoccupied with racial purity, similar to the aryan supremacy of the Nazis, and regard the 'other' as mutations. Yet they themselves are as mutated as they come, signalling their hypocrisies and the paradoxical thought-processes endemic to extremism. Davros' war-torn visage and image is but an extension of this idea. Portraying him as squeaky clean cheapens Nation's world building and renders Davros a more prosaic villain, with little regard for the story in which he originated- itself a blatant anti-fascist parable opposed to ethnic cleansing and war. This is not subtle: Genesis is forthcoming with its Nazi allegories, all of which take significant precedence over supposed subconscious tropes.

This level of utter retardation is genuinely sick. Not one sane person ever thought Davros was evil because he was disabled.
Except the woke. Because they're f*cking insane.

Though his radicalism is kind of being rewritten out of history in some way. His Some Time In New York City box set was cancelled this year. They're jumping straight to the much more easier to digest Mind Games box set. I don't think it's all just quality issues that's behind that decision. Melody loving, radio friendly John is easier to market than IRA sympathising, N word using John. Marketing over history is a form of soft brainwashing. I disagree to some extent. Some Time in New York is shallow, identity politics driven, horse shit. Only thing I will say is his use of the N-word was absolutely not racist. It was a silly song, but an attempt to say women are persecuted everywhere. The Beatles in contrast to Queen who sadly played sun city, refused to play to segregated audiences in the 60s.
However he did write a few inspired political songs. Working Class Hero is the best thing he ever wrote to be honest. Far above any Beatles song. It changed my life when I first heard it as a teenager and helped shape my politics in all honesty.
The rewriting of his solo career to being awful is exaggerated IMO. It's not completely without merit as his worst work is in the solo, but his best work is also on his own. That's not to say his solo career is better than the Beatles, as they all contributed to the Beatles. (My favourite era is actually SGT Pepper when Paul was in charge.) However Lennon's best work in particular is the following 20 songs in no particular order except for number 1.
1/ Working Class Hero. 2/ Number 9 Dream 3/ Starting Over 4/ Mother 5/ Watching the Wheels 6/ Gimme Some Truth 7/ Instant Karma 8/ Nobody Told Me 9/ Jealous Guy 10/ Crippled Inside 11/ Sweet Bird of Paradise (acoustic version.) 12/ Beautiful Boy 13/ Cold Turkey 14/ How 15/ Power to the People 16/ Give Peace a Chance 17/ God 18/ Woman (Even if it is cheesy as f*ck. It's also funny that the ultimate song appreciating women was written about one of the most despised women LOL.) 19/ Happy X-Mas War is Over 20/ Mind Games"
Oh don't get me wrong, the biggest disappointment of my life was listening to Some Time In New York City. I don't think it's necessarily way worse than Mind Games though, and I don't think it's just quality reasons it's been passed over for box set treatment. It's also more difficult to market an album that takes liberals out their comfort zone. As half baked and poor man's Phil Ochs the lyrics are, it's full of uncomfortable radical commitments in a world where correcting the pronouns of a tweet objecting to Arab genocide is considered left wing.
I agree completely with your list. Lot of fondness for his often derided Rock And Roll album too. I want someone to AI Yoko out of Well (Baby Please Don't Go) to improve STINYC's few good songs. His greatest hits rock!
His decline begun when he began to resent his genius (pop songwriting) and embrace and fall in love with his mediocrity (art wank projects). Then moving to America was as fatal to his creativity as it was to his mortality. McCartney, who often turned up to the studio with a minutely detailed battleplan could work anywhere. But Lennon, who seemed to have a need to worship questionable messiahs (Magic Alex, Allen Klein, Yoko, David Peel, Maharishi) was increasingly lost to the influence of bad influences. The last being super slick but lifeless New York session musicians who could out-professional The Beatles, but came nowhere close to out-inspiring them.

The Telegraph's war on woke is as hollow as the Fitzroy crowd's pandering to woke. Hence why Bendy Cock will fire Claudia Boleyn and say she's too much of a wild card if she expresses a lefty opinion that's critical of his elitist friends AND stigmatize and manipulate her mental health struggles in the process, and as you say why these people who fly into fits of rage any time a trans person appears in the media, will kiss the arse of this man who epitomizes London bubble neo liberal politics. Basically they all just want to kiss arse to the establishment, or sections of the establishment for their careers, and will peddle any old shit they have too. See also Mr Tardis. Usually they peddle to one side that they think represents their "audience" be it chest thumping little Englanders, or blue haired, screeching feminists, (also they love winding these people up as it helps to keep us all fighting with one another. To paraphrase John Lennon. "Keep you doped with social media, tribalism and the culture wars, and you think you're so clever and classes and free, but you're still f*cking peasants as far as I can see." Sadly it doesn't rhyme anymore as neatly LOL, but the principle is the same.) With all this in mind it doesn't surprise me that now and again you'll get a figure like RTD who is so in with the bricks that all the media shills regardless of their so called "principles" will kiss the arse of. However that might be about to burst, as RTD is yesterday's darling, and whilst they'd be happy to keep kissing his arse if he just did little niche, side projects, now being forced into the limelight again, well it could very well blow up in his face. There may be honor among thieves, but there certainly isn't any among the elites.

Working Class Hero was indeed a great song, even I can admire some of Lennon's solo songwriting!
Looking at the other reviews of RTD's return I get a sense of nervousness, as if they fear his previous admirers aren't as convinced. If Nu Who does finally collapse (a bit like Top Gear after Clarkson + co left, which I suspect may have happened even without Flintoff's crash) I hope he is still captain of the ship - it will stop any revisionism from its die-hard fans.
