Hideous! Alexander Smarmstrong, Gold's deafening emotional woodwind crap and a rehash of Tennant's worst dialogue. A real shit stew! Indeed. Moffat stated in interview that he wrote the Xmas specials for an audience that was gorged with food, pissed and falling alseep. I've always got the impression that was the intended demographic of the main series. The specials seem to be for people with irreversible brain damage...

God damn I was going to post them. I guess Osgood's death is pretty high. I want to enjoy it I really do. It's Ingrid's big moment that helped elevate her career, and whilst it's not badly acted it is apallingly written. How the f*ck does Missy manage to teleport her hand cuffs around the room into Osgood's pocket and then suddenly teleport herself ten feet behind Osgood? Also why do none of the guards react when she says "I'M GOIN TAE KILL YA CAUSE AM BANANNA!" and put her lipstick on showing she had got free LOL. The Master might as well have just shot Osgood with laser eye beams. (PS shows you how little Mofftwat knows about the character. That scene with Osgood would have been a perfect opportunity to show off the Masters hypnotic abilities, you know the ones he has had since day one rather than suddenly giving him teleportation powers?) Also John ham it up for all time Simm jumping through the air shouting DINNNNNNNNNEEEEERRRRRR TIIIIIIIMMMMMMME and guzzling chicken and the Master race revelation. Then there is of course the Jesus Doctor, the Scissor sisters dance, him wanting to shag Missy, him asking Bill to borrow her dresses. Has one man ever butchered a character as much as Moffhack has the Master? The Master is the antithesis of the Joker, in that old Mr J has had so many classic versions of him, whilst every single version of the Master since 1996 has been utter shit. (Apart from Jacobi who was there for all of 2 mins. To be honest I've not much cared for what Big Finish have done with the character either. Alex MacQueen was pretty crappy.) Still above all else I have to say this.

Ugh. Yep, total shit. Aside from the obvious overall dreadfulness:-
"President Obama's promised to end the global recession..." f*ck off.
Also, how can you have a black guy called "Ginger"...?
My brother's girlfriend thinks that Simm's portrayal of the Master is "Chilling". When i argued wth her about it, he didn't say a word in her defence...

"President Obama's promised to end the global recession..." fokk off. RTD doesn't have a clue about politics, does he? He assumes that the President and the President-Elect are the same thing in Last of the Time Lords (see how the characters throw around the term interchangeably), and here he assumes that the homeless will be giving a toss about US politics. Again, why does he conflate UK and US politics all the time? What is it with RTD and political continuity? He makes explicit reference to Ken Livingstone (Turn Left), Tony Blair (Rise of the Cybermen) and Barack Obama (End of Time) yet also disperses fictional political figures into the mix too (Harriet Jones, Harold Saxon). Which continuity are we supposed to be set in? There's no consistency there at all.

How on earth did he get into Oxbridge? He insists on making what he seems to think are clever, right-on references but constantly reveals a shocking level of political naivety, suggesting that he's either a poseur/champagne socialist or deliberately and cynically shoring up the neoliberal status-quo.
These references also serve to illuminate nothing, other than what Davies seems to think is "Good" or "Bad" without any degree of analysis or elababoration. If he really had a sincere point to make, he might employ the use of something called "allegory", but he doesn't because he's not interested in making the audience think, he's interested in telling them how to think, and stunting their intellectual development in the process.
Is this how Doctor Who, of all things, should be made...?
