Daleks footage 6:02. He thinks that showing black and white footage to a child is akin to showing them "a stone tablet." f*ck...ING...MORON. How i coped with all that Charlie Chaplin and Harold Lloyd stuff when i was a kid clearly defies all known logic... The same goes for me and Citizen Kane (1941) , Saboteur (1942), Shadow of a Doubt (1943), Psycho (1960), Paths of Glory (1957), Dr Strangelove (1964), The Longest Day (1962), Following (1998), Some Like it Hot (1959), Young Frankenstein (1974), and, of course, Hartnell/Troughton era Doctor Who. All of which I was exposed to before I turned 13.

"It doesn't 'bring it to life', as such, but-" "Yes, it DOES bring it to life!-" Again, this conversation feels oddly out of sync. Davies instinctually expects that he'll receive more praise than he actually does.

That right there f*cked his argument. You could tell she wasn't a DW fan at all of either, but had probably had a look at the black and white stories before and thought they were really creepy and scary and was a bit confused at why he wanted to colourise them.

Also, i've seen far better Doctor Who colourisations on youtube. I would've thought they'd at least have gone for one of those guys. This isn't even broadcast-quality at this point...

This was the vid I tried to post yesterday. I think I posted it in the wrong thread by mistake? Still either way if that is the music they are using for the Daleks I'll be pissed off. This clip strongly suggests that absolutely none of Tristram Cary’s music will be used at all. I stand corrected. You can hear Cary's music in this, but the new score drowns it out almost entirely.

An apt- but likely too dignified- comparison. Yeah, you can faintly hear Cary's whirring and unearthly score underneath, but it's hard to decipher. If he plays something nondescript but loud over the Dalek City theme, this will officially be a failure by default. This will presumably happen 2 minutes in, given the botched editing.

How much sound do they need in that scene? Might as well have added Ben Cook farts over it as well. We've got to do what's most exciting for the kids!

F*ck it, let's shove "The Dark and Endless Dalek Night" in there as well along with Hitler's Krupp Factory speech and the moaning sounds of adult star Riley Reid.
Make it LOUD!

He secretly hates black and white telly.

I expect far more from Mark Ayres. He's one of the best composers of the original series. I'm not sure why he went along with this. Probably for that Disney money.
