I'm not surprised they didn't pick Revelation for the Baker one.
"Hey, Peri, do you remember when we walked through lots and lots of snow to find a front door?"
"Yeah... good times!"

Yeah the only downside to this is that the iPlayer video quality is appalling, it always has been

I've watched nearly all of these. I haven't actually sat down and watched the stories, just the new footage with the actors. You would have to be a real miserable sod if you weren't moved in some way by them. I was on the verge of tears with the Jamie/Zoe one. Even the Clyde/Jo one was surprisingly sweet. I have to hand it to RTD, he knows his Doctor Who. This is yet another beautiful treat.

Why is Russell so desperate to have Nyssa and Tegan be a couple? It's an odd pairing. It seems to be very much a trait with people like Russell, desperately inserting themselves into fictional characters. It's bad fan-fic, basically. Look, I'm sure I've said this before, but this would be fine if there was any intent or any hint of this onscreen. I not only didn't have a problem, I LOVED them doing a retro fix on Sky and Lana in Neighbours in 2020, but that's because those characters had that onscreen in 2004 and I was infuriated as f*ck when they ended up copping out on it. So fixing it (while a bit late) was fine. This is not that. This is randomly taking two characters who never gave the slightest hint of being gay, or gay for each other, and just making shit up like a bad fan-fic. It's deeply unprofessional, and honestly comical.

RTD has seriously recommend Terror of the Vervoids as one of his Iplayer picks! Out of all the possible stories...

I couldn't finish any of them. These are incredibly schmaltzy. Everyone gets a happy ending, everyone always thinks of the Doctor, everyone makes their dreams come true with a wish, give me a sodding break.
The only part I really liked was Frazer Hines interpreting the older Jamie as being similar to the Second Doctor in manners. That was a nice subtle touch.

Are you feeling alright, rushy? I think we're rubbing off on him, people.

I wouldn't even mind it just being a safe cozy pseudo-canonical thing where they're in-character but not in-character. You know, like Tom doing Doctor Who Night 1999 or those Shada links. Or William Russell's links for The Crusade. Something that's clearly just there for the fans and not meant to mean anything.
It's the insistence on explaining why they're being reunited, and having them actually talk about how they feel about the Doctor and their lives that confuses me. If you're going to that effort, then you have to have them actually be the characters.

It's fanboys desperately trying to smear themselves over a show and characters they had nothing to do with. Fan-fiction.

DW canon is DW 1963-1989. Everything else is alternate universes. If this is how these characters ended in the Russelverse, go ahead. It doesn't matter that there are 15 more endings for Jamie.

What I found amusing is that the explanation Sylv gave in his one all but admits that New Who could be a different canon from classic. Way to decanonise yourself, Rusty. Thanks!

I mean, sure, we don't have to count it as canon, but that's Russell's intention. And that's the part that confuses me.
Does he want it to be a cozy comfy talk show where all the characters wax lyrical about the good old days, or does he want it to be a genuine continuation of these people's stories? You can't have it both ways lmfao.
Steven wouldn't be talking about how much he misses the Doctor, he'd first struggle to remember who Vicki is (it's been 60 years!) and then go on the warpath to find the Doctor. Probably to yell at him.

In all seriousness, I found them incredibly heartwarming. They're fun little nostalgia trips for classic fans. They're not even part of the show so it doesn't change anything.
