This aged well. My excitement level now is 0. Bit like getting back with an ex. It's all very exciting at first. And then you remember why you dumped them in the first place... Honestly, Maxil; such unreasoning optimism in the face of the great, bloated warty one. Haven't all these years of agony taught you anything..? I must have a penchant for pain and suffering

According to the guy that saw "Star Beast" yesterday, the episode does end on the cliff-hanger where Donna spills coffee on the TARDIS console, so that part of the 60th anniversary leak is accurate However, the leak also said there was a "previously 15 years ago" recap with a Rose Tyler cameo and that has been apparently been changed, possibly last minute, to The Doctor talking to the audience while imposed via green screen on a starfield, while Donna tells her mother she's lost something Any confirmation on the bi regeneration thing yet? I so hope that is true. He hasn't seen "The Giggle", at least not yet

I stupidly started becoming mildly content after seeing the original series emerge on iPlayer, even if I never had any hope in the new episodes being any good.
Then the awful Daleks colourisation project was announced (why does it look so crap, and why cut out 90 sodding minutes?), amidst Davies making more obnoxious appearances in the papers. Then that appalling Children in Need skit aired- alongside a smorgasboard of pure shite on that channel that day. And now, Davies has gone and vandalised Davros completely. I was a twat for even becoming mildly resigned to this.
If the rumours and leaks are true- especially that bollocks about "bi-generation"- I can't see this new era receiving receiving anything but genuine ridicule from general audiences.

Let's face it: This upcoming era will be Season 24 amplified to a ridiculous degree, with an intolerable slice of identitarian pseudo-progressive politics thrown in for good measure. Camp guest stars, light entertainment sensibilities, not the slightest iota of gritty storytelling...
Hell, at least Season 24 had ideas.

It's SPOILER-TIME WITH ADAM COLE BABY!
I was trying to stay spoiler-free for most of the Star Beast, but I'm a weak-willed individual and couldn't resist peering at info about the ending, supplied by the person who saw it, from GB:
The Doctor reawakens the meta crisis within Donna, as she is the only one can stop the Meep. Donna dies in The Doctor's arms without achieving this goal. The Meep, having taken control of UNIT, orders them to execute The Doctor.
Suddenly, Rose begins flopping switches and talking technobabble like Donna did in series four's finale. The Black Star energy is drained from the UNIT soldiers, liberating them from the Meep's mind control, The Doctor realizes Donna passed down the meta-crisis energy to her child. Donna wakes up.
Later, all three discuss the events, Rose reveals she influenced her own name when Donna carried the infant inside of her, drawn from the dormant meta-crisis memories, the shed in the back yard is painted blue like the TARDIS, all of Rose's childhood toys are based on the monsters Donna encountered
We see flashbacks to Donna saying "binary, binary", Rose follows that up with "non-binary", The Doctor brings up that he is male, Donna says he's also Female, but Rose says The Doctor, and by extension, her, is neither. And far more.

And far more. You can almost hear Davies’ hand dropping to his trousers whilst the other hand continues to type. Jesus Christ…

Like one of his bland, runaround, nothing stories like Partners in Crime with a stupid monster that is hard to take seriously. It's not 2008 any more Russell.

Most of those who have seen it have said the same thing. The first special is a disposable bank holiday-style treat, meant to draw back lapsed viewers and catch up with familiar characters. Russel himself has said the next two specials are bolder, weirder, and aren't suited for young viewing

Even the thought of my favourite bubble butt redhead returning doesn't excite me. That's how dead my interest is now.

So he's essentially playing the part identically to how he used to, but presumably with additional gurning and exasperation. Jesus. This is going to be the worst of all possible worlds, isn't it?
