"Roll up, roll up, see all these crumbling oldies we've decided to reveal the fate of even though they were never our characters to begin with!" This doesn't interest this "Classic fan" at all. Making the show and the central character as they should be would be more likely to appeal to me but nah can't have that. Agree with the sentiment but this seems like it could just be a rather nice nod to the past. Tom Baker's always distanced himself from the show so it's no surprise he isn't in it. I also don't want to speak too soon but I wouldn't be surprised if he's in ill health and unable to commit. He's 90 years old and looking rather thin in recent photos. Still, don't want to tempt fate here haha I guess that makes sense. Oh God no Remember the days when there would just be a new Doctor and we'd move on? I miss that.

Tom's 89 and 3/4! God knows who that is with darling Katy Manning. Surely they could have got either Richard Franklin or John Levine and his obvious American teeth to take the place of whoever that non-classic Who youngster is. If push comes to shove, pair her up with Bessie. Nice picture pairings otherwise though. Frazer Hines' wig...give up and embrace your hair loss, razer dear.

It's just some cute fan service. It's a real novelty having them back at all, especially people like Maureen O'Brien who've stayed away for a while. I don't think Peter Purves has done any live-action acting in this century either. He's actually the one I'm most interested in seeing, because he doesn't generally keep quiet when he dislikes something (depending, of course, if he's invested enough to talk about it at all).
He used to talk a lot about how he'd like to see Steven turned into a villain. I doubt they have the balls for it, but still, I'm curious.

He starred with her in an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures. Bit of an odd choice but pretty much everyone else from that era is dead or old and possibly in ill health. We're lucky to have a decent handful of the 60s companions still with us.

Leela is pretty much the only 70s Tom era companion alive apart from Lalla who wouldn't be in the same room as Tom anyway. From what I've heard Lalla and Tom aren't actually on bad terms I think it's just Tom's wife knows how close they were and doesn't like them meeting up. I've always seen Lalla be quite fair about Tom, but there are others who say whenever she was asked what her favourite DW monster is, she says Tom Baker LMAO. She does seem to hate Matthew Waterhouse more than Tom at least though.

I think Waterhouse was kind of a snooty kid, I remember reading somewhere that he tried giving acting tips to Richard Todd on the set of Kinda.
But that aside, he wasn't an experienced actor and really had no business being in such a high class role.

Some people think it may have been a casting couch situation, which given JNT's reputation I wouldn't say is out of the question.

I'll give RTD this, he's a wonderful ambassador for the show, and it's clear he loves it a lot, despite whatever his political intentions may entail. Unlike with Moffat and Chibnall, I get the feeling that he genuinely wants to do good by the show, even if he's a bit misguided.

They've done loads of BFs together (in the same room lol). The absence of anything Tom related is odd (they could surely have paired Louise with K9, for instance!) unless - as with the 50th - there's a Tom surprise elsewhere in the anniversary.

Would have been nice for Lalla and the guy who plays Duggan to do one on City of Death.

Tom Chadbon hasn't done any Big Finish since he abruptly quit/got fired from Blake's 7 in 2014
