It looks like she'll be Donna's daughter.

Honestly that killed the last common ground with anti SJW who fans (for lack of a better term) I had. I mean really we can't get to the point where just having a trans character is seen as virtue signaling. Fair enough, I don't doubt RTD will handle her being trans in the clumsiest way possible like he did his gay characters, where it will be her entire personality, but still they aren't even objecting to it from those grounds. It's just having a trans character at all that they claim is grooming kids, and we've seen a lot of nasty stuff calling this actress he too. What's worse is that some of the bloggers complaining about that, gave me crap for not liking Missy saying I was getting too carried away, and going on about how Gomez was incredible. Seriously! That shows that it is just bigotry and they don't give a damn about DW as far as I'm concerned, as Missy wasn't really a trans character anyway as she was an alien so they didn't mind her actually destroying an icon and setting a precedent to do so, but an actual trans character as the companion, even though the companions can be absolutely anybody and it's not infringing on or rewriting the past at all, is a step too far?

Lol how is it "grooming kids?" That's so stupid. I have zero issues with the casting myself. My issue is purely down to the name. I suppose we've got to shoehorn a reference to the GREATEST COMPANION IN THE HISTORY OF ANYTHING EVER somehow.

Lol how is it "grooming kids?" That's so stupid. I have zero issues with the casting myself. My issue is purely down to the name. I suppose we've got to shoehorn a reference to the GREATEST COMPANION IN THE HISTORY OF ANYTHING EVER somehow. They claim that seeing trans people on tv will make kids want to be trans as kids are impressionable, and that in this day and age they will then allow the kids to get an operation to change sex, leading to children being mutilated. Now if I am going to play Devils Advocate I do NOT support children being allowed to transition as a child couldn't possibly be able to make that decision, and a child saying it wants to change sex does not mean they will be trans. Children think they can be anything. I wanted to be a robot, a Dinosaur, a superhero, a dog at various points in my childhood. (When I was a 3 I used to pretend to be a dog. I had a tie sticking out the back of my trousers that was my tail, and I walked around on all 4s and barked and squeaked all the time LOL.) It's best not to push kids down a path. Let them discover who they are on their own. Admittedly some London bubble twats have pushed their kids down that path as they love having a trans kid to look edgy. I think 18 is the first stage you should be allowed to begin your transition. Of course if your kid consistently displays gender dysphoria then alternatively don't try and change their mind. Don't say "no son of mine is going to wear wimminz clothes." Again the key is to remove all stigma. Make trans something that is not a big act of rebellion, or something that is shameful and needs hidden. It just is. You might be, you might not, who gives a f*ck if you are, but again as it is a big decision to make, then like having sex, or getting married, or voting, leave it until they are older. As for sex ed class, well an argument there can be made that introducing these things to children that way is inappropriate, but if that is true, then all sex ed classes have to cease including those for heterosexual relationships. There are also valid questions to be had about trans women taking part in sports. Fact is that men are on average stronger physically than women. Believe me given my fantasies NO ONE is more disappointed to find that out than me LOL, though at least I'm a wimpy man so a big Gina can still beat me up. To be fair though it's only for load bearing that men are stronger. Women are actually a bit sturdier in terms of their constitution and how they're put together hence why they tend to outlive us by several decades. Still that's how most sports measure it, sheer physical strength, so yes trans women will have an advantage. Now again that doesn't mean that you have to invalidate trans women as women. I mean hell not all women are the same. You can't expect a big Gina and a Dana DeLorenzo to be evenly matched in a cage match can you? Or even among men, put Dolph Lundgren and Van Damme in a cage match? Just accept that in that very particular scenario trans women are different, same way again tall women will be different and have a trans category. Now admittedly there are trans activists and loonies who will call you transphobic for stating the points I mentioned above and for other things like criticizing f*cking Missy, but the anti sjw DW fans and the Graham Linehan's truly are no better. They use these reasonable complaints to say that trans women should be invalid all of the time, they then take the idea of trans kids to say that any depiction or support of a trans person could lead to that, so they have to be covered up at all times. Hilariously enough, seeing a trans woman on tv who is no big deal, just another normal character like Sarah Jane is less likely to lead to kids and teenagers wanting to be trans than if it is this big left wing cause to be trans, which people like Linehan are making it into. That's what always happens, whenever you repress something like homosexuality, or being trans then it explodes. Look at Saudi Arabia, that is the gay capital of the world because it is such forbidden fruit over there. Pat Condell (who is a total arse head don't get me wrong) nevertheless said something quite funny about Saudi Arabia that it's a country of one king and a million queens LOL. Again this is not to say that RTD won't likely be obnoxious with it, constantly bring up she is trans, make out that every white man hates her for it, and be about as subtle as a brick smashing you in the face, but still like I said that's not what these people are objecting too. (I might add that a lot of them think RTD was the best showrunner of all time!)

Helps that's she hot. I do agree with trans representation in the show, but it shouldn't be the character's defining feature.

Janet Fielding revealed at the Timelash convention that the companion support group will have larger roles to play in the anniversary and series beyond, and that Bonnie Langford's involvement is directly connected to that.
She wasn't supposed to blurt this out, just shows why she's the mouth on legs

I know it probably makes sense for it to exist, but the "companion support group" is just way too corny for me to get behind

Stop bringing shit back, it's boring and lazy. As much as I love Ian, I really couldn't care less if we see him again, because he was a companion from the 60s and he served that role perfectly well. Ace coming back completely spoils the mystique of the latter McCoy era continuity, for example. Where's the fun in having middle-aged women running around saving the day and trying to recapture the magic from 40 bloody years ago? Like I said, it's silly.

To be fair, Aldred still has the energy I guess, but it's still lame when all your heroes are middle-aged mums. I enjoy reminiscing about Ace as a teenager in Perivale, I don't want to be slapped in the face with the reality of aging and how quickly time passes lol

It was a terrible idea. The more we hear, the dumber it all sounds.

I have no problem with it. I enjoyed seeing Ace and Tegan last year and I'm looking forward to seeing Mel again as well.
