I thought he'd been run off the Internet forever.

He has a different channel called Cultivated Media (I think) where he talks about stuff he actually likes lol

Matthew of the Who Addicts has been chased off of Youtube again, and he ended up commenting on Bowlestrek's new video, which attracted attention on twitter.

I find it highly ironic that he ran the channel for years without James, finally reunited with him and then buggered off, leaving James to manage it alone now. EDIT: They were onscreen together for literally one video lmfao

It's quite funny seeing how insane Who fandom is these days. All he did was misgender Sam Smith by accident and they are treating him like he is a danger to LGBT people and a scumbag. This fandom is full of Elizabeth Sandifiers (who funnily enough wasn't judged for telling people to kill themselves at all?)

I thought he doubled down on that quite a bit (he even mentioned not agreeing with Smith's choice of pronouns in that goodbye video)

What a cartload of utter loonies. When do you reopen the asylums and put these clowns in there? I think a real case could legitimately be made that they are a danger to themselves, others and society at large. Lock 'em all up. Complete nutters.

Either way though it doesn't warrant completely ruining the guys life. To be honest I am not sure what to make of the They/Them pronouns. I'm NOT a TERF. On the contrary one of my all time best friends is trans, and I've recently become reasonably friendly with another trans girl on twitter Jade. I also do think trans people are being caught up in this culture war bullshit to the point where no trans person can live a normal life now. Being trans has to be made into a political statement. (Jade herself got lots of shit from people for not being what a true trans person should be.) However I just don't see where They/Them is coming from IE, why is someone referred to as multiple people? Also at what point do you qualify, IE what does it actually mean? If you're a guy who just likes crossdressing, doesn't that just mean you are a transvestite? Again not a hill I'm going to die on, not something I'm going to outright enforce, IE go out of my way to mock, but I honestly don't get it?

In my estimation, people who "gender" him "correctly" are more a danger than "misgenderers". Holy shit this jargon is so obnoxious that I have to create a degree of separation between me and it by putting it in quotation marks.

I don't have much sympathy for Matthew. Yes, the loathing he and especially his girlfriend got online is terrible, but Matthew is genuinely a very pretentious and thin-skinned person in my experience, with something of a victim complex. He should've just shut things off once he stopped enjoying himself, but he tended to ramble on and on about how the whole Doctor Who fandom has turned against his family as opposed to the reality - that it's just some idiot trolls.
James seems much more grounded in comparison and the channel is probably better off under his control.

I suppose there is a precedent for this sort of response, especially under pressure, but it's telling enough that I've never even heard of him. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to just get off Twitter or shut the f*cking computer off or whatever.

Well I must admit I don't really know much about him, but I do remember him supporting Mr Tardis' sanctimonious rant about how Jodie Whittaker got shit viewing figures because fans like us were so repulsive, we drove everybody away. Funny now he's trying to jump into bed with the Bowlestrek side? I mean again I'm not going to go after him or anything, but it does feel like he's happy to turn a blind eye to how shitty certain parts of fandom can be until he is affected personally, and will often go completely to one side. To me it's best to just talk to people from all sides who are decent, and stick by your beliefs rather than jump into bed with one or the other.

James has had some interesting takes, he didn't think the Timeless Child is all that bad for instance. I'm sure he can rehabilitate the channel so that it's fairer to all eras of the programme rather than allow it to go through an identity crisis like Matthew did, who wound up providing lesser content and reminding us all how hard his girlfriend had it in every other video to the point it got laborious...I'll just say it, people went after Liv because she had no talent and she wasn't the brightest bulb.
The more the Who Addicts went on, I feel as if they were just fly-by-night fans who acted like RTD's first era was the only one they were actually in love with. Moffat and Chibnall didn't do it for Matthew or Liv (and they only liked Twice Upon A Time, I feel, because they got to see a screening of it), so it's probably best for the channel that RTD is back and that James is more open-minded to the diverse and controversial choices

I did notice that they seemed very reluctant to engage with the classic era.

Yeah I could never take them seriously - their idea of a "retro review" was invariably something from about five years ago.
