Apparently it's the deaf chick from Eastenders. Don't know her, looks moderately cute I guess.

I'm almost tempted to watch it if the news is true. ❤️

I thought it was the trans actress that was the new companion?

No, she's a very small role in one of the specials, she was only filming for like a week.

Ok, cool idea!
This is a form of inclusivity that could work for narrative.
Has anyone ever seen the TNG episode, "Darmok"?
It's the episode where Jean Luc Picard is stranded on a planet with a hostile alien, and without a universal translator.
He has to learn the language of the alien on the fly to bridge an alliance with him.
What if the companion is in a situation where the TARDIS translator has failed, and she needs to help the Doctor communicate with another species where the communication is brokered by sign language?
AH f*ck! Just make her gender the focus of the episode.

I had 0 issue with the trans woman being a companion. To me the only problem has ever been in changing existing characters, narratives and stories, but you know I don't think I have to argue that anymore as Jodie herself is proof of it.

I'm almost tempted to watch it if the news is true. ❤️ I knew it wasn't true. Looks way too friendly to be associated with that era.
