My favourite decade for movies and to be honest there isn't that many irredeemable films from that period except for a few.
Perfect (1985)
I bought this movie for Jamie Lee Curtis in workout outfits and doing lots of sexy dances but that's really the only good thing about the film. The vast majority of it is cynical, condescending, badly filmed and really boring. It feels mean-spirited too.
Scenes from the Class Struggles of Beverly Hills (1989)
I watched this around 2019 when I was obsessed with Rebecca Schaeffer and was ultimately disappointed about her lack of screentime and sadly her rather erratic performance too. Apart form that, it generally just sucks. It's a failed comedy that again feels very mean-spirited and crass. The characters are so unlikeable as well and having a game of who can bang the most girls in a short amount of time just feels really off to me. Rebecca should have passed on it.
Never Say Never Again (1983)
Terrible film although at least it's better than Quantum of Solace. I still hate it, though. It feels like a massive F you to Roger Moore, Eon productions, Fleming and the Bond series in general. The bitterness really seeps through the screen at times and honestly it's the most shit looking film involving James Bond. Even the action is pretty weak compare to the excitement of Octopussy. I'm glad the Moore film kicked this movie's arse because it should never have been made in the first place.
Howling IV: The Original Nightmare (1988)
Unlike the other four films on this list, Howling IV does have a few redeeming qualities outside of pretty women. The film is faithful to the source novel and has a few decent scares as well impressive effects. The rest of it is pretty abysmal and the cinematography is awful for the time. It's humourless too and there's very little werewolf action until the end of the movie. Stick with the first two Howling films.
Shotgun (1989)
I don't remember much about the movie, but I do remember hating it quite a bit when I watched it about five years ago. I can't see myself revisiting this again either.
Some real clunkers on the list, but in terms of the 80s there's more good entertainment than bad. Most of these films aren't even mainstream either.
