I'd been binging Red Dwarf Series VII and wondered if there was a way I could create an edit that would in part 'retcon' out Series VIII, due to Rimmer being a hologram again in Back To Earth and all subsequent series on DAVE.
My solution would be to take scenes from the episode 'Blue' and add them to 'Nanarchy'. I'd reveal Lister's ending in the latter episode is he nightmare he wakes up from in "Blue" instead of the kiss between him and Rimmer. Rimmer and Lister's chat would no longer be a dream, but would come nearer to the end of the episode, with Arnie tiring of adventuring and returning to Starbug. After Lister and Rimmer hug, we cut to them playing golf and the usual relationship begining to play out, and THEN we cut to Cat flying Starbug into Red Dwarf. We still end the way we did in 'Nanarchy' but you don't have to watch Series VIII now to necessarily go into Back to Earth concerned about continuity.

And of Series VIII, I couldn't help but try to salvage how that ends also, and stitched together a brand new finale for it using material from both parts of 'Pete' and the final few minutes of 'Only The Good', including making use of it's unused alternate ending.
