LOL I set up an account there a few weeks ago just to see what they were saying about the latest catastrophic fall in viewers.
I eventually got tempted and left a thread, where I detailed how GB had a serious problem with bullying. I didn't call anyone names or anything like that. I just shared a lot of the abuse I got from people.
I mentioned how it had actually upset me during my bout of depression. I'm not playing the victim, I honestly think it did. It's why I got so involved in the Sadako vs Maxil feud here as a lot of people think "oh it's just forum drama" but I know from experience when you get dogpiled on it can hurt just as much. On GB I had so many people calling me a freak, a saddo who has never done anything with his life, a pathetic failure constantly, I honestly did start to see myself that way when I was in my worst bout of depression in 2019-2020.
However in the thread I also did say that there had been dirt thrown on both sides and that now it was time to put it behind us.
How did they respond?
Well one of them said "can we ban him again?"
Omie meanwhile intervened, first by using the highly original and sophisticated insult TL DR. (People who use that are honestly like when Rimmer when he uses the "Oh haha" because he can't think of a witty retort and then Lister points that out and he just goes "Oh haha."
Omie then revealed that he monitors the Hive all the time and that the last time I was on GB he was the one who reported me and got me banned from GB. Quite frankly why anyone would want to boast about that is beyond me?
Does Omie think it is a good thing to look like a "I want to speak to the manager!" type who runs crying to a biased moderator like Niquita Masqood or whatever her name was because he can't win an argument or even look decent in an argument on a forum of people who largely agree with him?
He also mentions having been banned from Doctor Who Online too. He claims they were all just abusive NMD's there, but when I posted there I found it to be very pro New Who. The fact that he followed me there though and knew who I was, was quite disturbing. I will say though that explains who the guy on that forum who just launched into a tirade of personal abuse at me in a thread about Aliens and UFOS was.
I remember thinking at the time that was mad, the way this guy I'd never even interacted with before suddenly launched into a full on rant at me over something as benign as a do you think aliens are real thread? I will say if Omie was willing to do that to me there, then I probably wasn't the only one which might be why he was banned. Other than him I found that forum to be the best New Who fan forum. It seemed to be run by the Claudia Boleyn side of new who fandom, IE the people who don't act like children or the Family from The Omega Man to any criticism.
Anyway after a bit of back and forth with Omie, the mods on GB deleted the post and then banned me. I just checked in this morning and saw I was banned.
I must confess I'm disappointed. I hoped that maybe after the catastrophic failure of the Jodie era there might be a bit more open mindedness to the GB mob. I was actually doing them a favour by giving them a chance to show that they weren't such a creepy cult that can't stand contrary opinions, but once again they proved that's exactly what they were.
