Okay my third time trying to make this. I tried to set a poll, but for some reason when I clicked add poll it just vanished?
So tell me which is the best out of this lot?
Fright Night (Original)
Fright Night 2 (Original)
The Lost Boys
Blade
Blade 2
Let The Right One In
John Carpenters Vampires
Salem's Lot
Near Dark
30 Days of Night
This is very hard for me. I think John Carpenters Vampires and Near Dark have the most effective and frightening vampires. Blade 2 meanwhile has the best story, whilst Regine is the sexiest vampire out of all of them, whilst Chris Sarandon is probably the most effective individual vampire charactr. The Lost Boys on the other hand has the best setting (one which Buffy would more or less pinch.)
Really, really hard for me to choose, but I'm going to go with with Blade 2, though only by a very, very, very narrow margin.

Salem's Lot is good, albeit definitely flawed. I've yet to see Near Dark, though the contributions of Kathryn Bigelow and Tangerine Dream certainly have me intrigued.
The first two Blade films are worthy titles too, although as a film, I probably have the most affection for Let The Right One In. The most effective as a standalone drama in its own right, and dripping with pathos.
Have you seen the remake "Let Me In" (2010)? I've heard largely mixed things about it, and it sounds unnecessary by design (similar to the 2002 American remake of Ringu, despite not being a bad film in itself), but I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt given what Matt Reeves has directed since.

I've not seen the remake of Let the Right One In I'm afraid. Only seen the original once. I'll probably get both soon. As I have a bit of spare money to spend now I'm going to build up a vampire collection. One vampire thing that disappointed me recently was the tv series The Strain. I just couldn't get into it. I'm going to try watching it again though as admittedly when I saw it last year I was really, really depressed. That was probably the blackest phase of my depression and I couldn't even really follow it or concentrate on it. I remember the gas station episode though being brilliant, but that was about the only one I saw.

Let The Right One In is a masterpiece. Then Salem's Lot. Then FNII.
The Strain sucked.

Let The Right One In is a masterpiece. Couldn't agree more. One of the best "horror" dramas of the last 20 years. Again, completely agree, at least going by what I've seen. I must admit that I watched the first two episodes with the family several years back, and we were all extremely disappointed by it. Even from a technical perspective, it felt noticeably unfinished and half-arsed. Maybe it improves during particular episodes, but as a whole, I wasn't impressed.

The Blade films were great, and Vamp (the Grace Jones one). I still recommend people check out Ultraviolet (not the films, the channel 4 series with Idris Elba in it). Excellent, scientific take on the genre.
