*I've decided not to include Tom Baker because he only had one season in the 80s and I'm talking more about the three main Doctors that were introduced in the 80s.
I'm going for McCoy just because I genuinely think he had the best stories and less crap stories than the other two (mainly because his era was only twelve stories long). Pretty much everything in his last two seasons ranges from great to absolutely exceptional. I even quite like his first season too with only one weak story in my opinion. The Davison era would be second because he too had some absolute crackers (and perhaps the best Cybermen and regeneration stories as well). There's some dreary stuff here and there, but as I mentioned on another thread when everything comes together you really get something special. Colin's era would be last on my list as it had some of the weaker offerings of the 1980s. He does, however, have one or two classics to his name and his era shouldn't be overlooked or ignored.

It's the Seventh Doctor, and it's not even close. Like 99% of Sylv's stuff is quality. Davison struggles to have 1 or 2 good stories per season, and Colin's tenure is all over the place.

I think the Williams era/Season 18 was bettered by Blake's 7 in terms of quality and the Davison/Baker era was bettered by the Tripods. McCoy's Who wins against all of them.

Blake's 7 sucks.
There, I said it, and I'm not sorry.

Blake's 7 sucks. There, I said it, and I'm not sorry. In the words of Elizabeth Sandifier. KILL YOURSELF, KILL YOURSELF, KILL YOURSELF WHITE BOY TODAY! JOIN MUSSOLINI!" LOL in all seriousness, I agree with the consensus here that it is McCoy without doubt. A truly original and unique mix of the supernatural and sci fi, with a more well rounded companion who has better chemistry with her Doctor. (Even if she has sold out.)

I went for Colin Baker because Season 23 really should be considered part of the Grade/Powell/McCoy era.

Dragonfire is only mediocre, and the other two are fun

I'll be honest here the Davison era is I think the only times the shows special effects DO undermine it. With the 60s and the 70s whilst there were examples of bad effects like the Zarbi, they usually were just of their time. Also the show I think knew its limitations back then and actually most of the monsters and designs and even sets from the 60s and 70s hold up.
In the Davison era however JNT I think foolishly tried to make the show compete with Star Wars and Alien and went for what were supposed to be big spectacles like the Mara and the Myrka. He didn't know the limitations fo the shows budget like previous producers and Davison suffered the most from that. By Colin's and Slyv's time I think he understood and in terms of production values, for the most part they hold up.
