I prefer to think of myself as a twinkle in William Hartnell's eye. View Attachment Ah, you identified a gap and filled it. You dirty dog, Ludders...

Couple of school kids got jumped and mugged by a gang of youths not that far from the local high school which is just up the road from me. Lowlifes. That behaviour is wrong always, but imagine being so insecure and cowardly to be part of a gang that robs and hurts school children. Nothing humans do shock me any more, were the species that hanged an elephant as a public sceptical and forced an orangutan into prostitution. Sadly there seems to be no depths we won't sink to. Indeed. Crime seems to be on the rise where I am. Had a bunch of twats smashing up a bus stop that's near me last night. There was a guy running around with a baseball bat too a few nights back. It's such a shame that a beautiful old town (Britain's oldest) so rich in history and sight seeing areas is also a place full of crackheads, rampant youths with nothing better to do than cause trouble and smashed up places with glass and rubbish everywhere.

It's a small wonder Colchester was voted the most miserable place to live in the UK.

I travelled from Nottingham to Colchester by National Express to buy a particular guitar once. The staff in the shop were miserable and seemed not to care less whether I spent my money there or not. That's my one and only experience of Colchester.

That's my one and only experience of Colchester. I've had similar experiences with the cinema staff who not only looked bored when serving me but also nearly charged me double for drinks. It's not all bad, but so many good shops have disappeared from town over the last few years including Next and Debenhams. Once the HMV (which is excellent, to be fair) inevitably disappears there won't be any reason for me to visit town again apart from the castle and the Mercury Theatre.

I used to live in a gorgeous little place called Manningtree if you've ever heard of it. Very small, but full of history and near water. I did a tour when I was last there which included the house of famous witch finder Matthew Hopkins.

That's one thing I miss about the UK, the architecture and history.

Even places that used to be nice are going to crap now. I was back for a visit a few months ago, and even the lovely old city of Lincoln where my folks live near to, is looking rough these days.

I think Norwich is still quite nice although I might believe differently if I actually live there. I avoid London like the plague. I've never been particularly keen on any areas of it.

I mean places like London and Birmingham have been crap since the middle ages, but I definitely am noticing a decline in other areas. Lincoln is a good shout, I used to live near there actually. Even the little village in Hampshire I used to live in has gone to shit because Gen Alpha kids are feral and the parents are neglectful middle-class cheese-eating winos who don't give a shit about the community.

One of the benefits of living in Aus is that most people still seem to have a respect for their surroundings. I'm not saying rough areas don't exist, but you really don't see places full of litter, dogshit, overflowing bins, and people gobbing on the pavement like you do in England. At least around Melbourne anyway.
