Top 3 for me: Moonbase, Power, and Evil. With Tenth Planet as runner up.
Worst ones are The Highlanders and The Smugglers.
Smugglers is just slightly less coma inducing than Highlanders, but there's not much in it.

The two Dalek stories with Power at the top and The Macra Terror next.
Power is top tier for the whole show for me. It's another sci fi classic.

Yeah they are, I prefer the Highlanders marginally to the terminally boring Smugglers myself, if only for Troughton's stovepipe hat, "I would like a hat like that" catchphrase and his impersonation of Doktor Von Wer bouncing the guys head off the table - other than that, it's shit. Power and Evil run away with it by far. |

Power and Evil run away with it by far. You know I used to think that Troughton's last season was his weakest, but actually I think it's his first. Season 6 has a few clunkers like The Dominators, but it has a higher number of brilliant stories. The Mind Robber, The Invasion, The Seeds of Death, The War Games etc. To be honest I think they are better than any season 4 story, save Power. Also Ben, Polly and Jamie aren't as good companions as Jamie and Zoe. Zoe to start with is more dynamic and heroic than Polly, and also two companions have a better chemistry than three. They are all always included in the story. For me season 6 is far better than 4, though 5 is still his best season overall. The Enemy of the World is the only one I find a little dull from that year. |

Power, Moonbase and Evil were my easy picks. Power in particular is absolutely outstanding- probably the Dalek story I'd rate the highest out of the lot.
Tenth Planet and Faceless Ones weren't too far behind those three though, with Macra Terror coming somewhat behind those two. Underwater Menace is batshit, but a far more entertaining and unique experience when compared to the largely lethargic Smugglers and Highlanders.

The Underwater Menace is magical. I've never seen something so confidently crazy before. Anneke and Catherine Howe look like a dream in this too. It pains me that two episodes are missing and I just hope the BBC go back and release a special edition of the DVD complete with animation. Robert Shearman said the story was "quite often dull" in the extras. What Underwater Menace is he talking about? Anyway, it's great.
