A Dalek Invasion of Earth Series - Speculation

I’ve been musing over this for a while, a series set during the Dalek Invasion of Earth. Either in TV, Audio or Novel form.

A series that follows a group of people attempting to survive the early years of the Dalek occupation is what I had in mind. Dealing not only with the Daleks and the Robomen, but all the threat hinted at in the original story. Plague, starvation, wild animals and each other. Maybe even the slyther and a few other Skaro native could show up also. It’s something I feel could really work and I’m shocked nones really done it before.

The closest was BF’s Masters of Earth story with the Sixth Doctor. Aside from this the most we generally get are stories trying to overturn the Doctor’s victory during that story, with Day of the Daleks being an actual episode and several BF stories.

What do you guys think? Would such a show, provided it was grounded in its original 60 asthmatic, be good?

I'd be interested in that. I doubt the BBC would do something like that sadly. It's very possible that Big Finish might take up the idea. I used to think DIOE was clunky rubbish, but I was blown away by it last time I watched it. It still has silly mistakes and the direction is weak, but it's a cracking story with an effectively subdued atmosphere and memorable scenes shot in London in the early hours.

As much as I love the idea, I don't feel people now can write something which would match the tone of the original. The original is just so powerful and impactful. If they did it now, it would be big explosions, mass killings, unnecessary love stories, and woke crappery.

One of the most impactful moments for me was the off screen man being chased.
Dalek: "Stop"
Man: "Why..... you killed my wife, my friend, and my brother"
Dalek: "stop.....stop"
Man: "No, get away from me.......arghhhhhh."

It was so impactful, especially due to the desperation of the mans voice.

Now imagine how that would be today.

Dalek: "Holt, or you will be exterminated!"
Man: "Yeah right, as if I'm gonna listen to ya."
Dalek: "Silence, you will obey."
Man: "Nah mate, I saw wut ya did to me lov, me ma, and me mate. Ya not gonna do that wiv me, alright."
Dalek: "Daleks do not take orders."
Man:: "WTF do yo ya think you doing. Get away from me or I'll sew you. Arrrrrrgh."
