Honestly one of my favourite days. This year is extra special as Season 4 of Cobra Kai drops on that day although I might save a few episodes for New Year's Day. I will probably watch the DYI episode of Mr.Bean as half of it takes place on New Year's Eve while the other half takes place on New Year's day. I'm also going to put on the DW TV Movie as again it takes place on the day and I haven't seen it for a while. We're going to order a Chinese takeaway in the evening and watch the Pet Shop Boys New Year's concert party on the BBC before tuning in to the fireworks. It's always an exciting day. A lot of Pepsi will be consumed too .

I went to bed right around 10:30 PM. I'd rather sleep a year away nowadays than give it my full attention 'till midnight

Just popping in to wish everyone a Happy New Year... or at least one that's a marginal improvement on the shitshow that was 2021.

My 2021 went well actually. My niece was born and I love her so much. She is absolutely hysterical with her little mad laugh. I actually got her to laugh over Christmas, and I'm told it was her first laugh. Very proud uncle. Meanwhile 2022 has started badly with the most disgusting and evil war criminal Tony Blair getting a knighthood. UGH there is no god or karma.

Here's hoping it's a less appalling year than the last two (or, in my case, the last three). I admit to being quite optimistic about it at the moment, but I'm trying not to eat my words. 2021 had an appalling first half for me personally, but picked up slowly after June, and I'm in a better place now than I was last year, but whether current events in general will improve is another matter. Let's hope 2022 provides an upward trajectory all round. Fingers crossed!

I had a good New Year's Eve. That Years and Years/Pet Shop Boys concert was very poor though. The Pet Shop Boys only performed a couple of songs and most of the concert was Olly Alexander flirting with the camera while he sang. I don't really see how he's Doctor material myself. The fireworks were good although my younger dogs is petrified of them, poor thing. Might start the year with some Doctor Who later (obviously not the Jodie episode on tonight).

I'm just going to ignore it altogether. I won't even look at the reviews or check the IMDB rating. 2022 is going to be a New Who free year for me, not that there are going to be that many episodes this year anyway.

Anyone staying up this year? I always do. For some reason I really love New Year's Eve. I always have a takeaway (although we've recently decided to eat out instead), watch a movie (as well as New Year's Mr Bean episode) , have a few drinks and then watch the fireworks on the BBC. I'm hoping to stay up until 2 or something.

I used to enjoy some of the acts but not that much anymore. It also annoys me that it's shot about four months before it actually airs and that everyone pretends that it's really the 31st of December. It's a bit disingenuous.

I used to love Jools Hollands Hootnanny. He had a great taste in female singers. I saw so many of my faves on his show for the first time. Amy Winehouse, Caro Emerald, V V Brown, Lily Allen, Paloma Faith, Emeli Sande, Florence and the Machine. He gave them all great publicity in their early days. Sadly however either I'm just too old now, or the quality of singers has decreased to the point where there isn't really anyone that interests me anymore on his shows and so I stopped watching it and am now just content with Arnie every new year. Amy and Paloma may be amazing, but could they tell the devil he was a f*cking choir boy? (Well actually Amy could have said that to Liz Hurley's devil LOL, although do you get choir girls?) Still let us remember the good times from the Hootnanny. I love the way Amy's voice just completely drowns out Paul Wellers. Shows how amazing her voice was. Incidentally on one of Amy's performances on Hootnanny, Ade Edmondson is her back up (on trumpet.) This makes Ade Edmondson the only person to perform on stage with Amy Winehouse and Sir Cliff Richard LOL. Two very different singers. Good times.
