Does that mean you like it? I also like The sequel Dr Phibes Rises Again. Doctor Phibes/Doctor Who connection; Ian Marter: ( Harry Sullivan) Third policeman Peter Jeffrey: ( The Macra Terror & The Androids Of Tara): Detective Inspector Trout. Aubrey Woods: ( The Day Of the Daleks) Goldsmith Edward Burnham: ( The Invasion & Robot) Dr Dunwoody Norman Jones: ( The Abominable Snowmen, Doctor Who And The Silurians & The Masque of Mandragora) Sgt Schenley Peter Gilmore: ( Frontios) Dr Kitaj That's one of the reasons I love old Brit films - to spot the Dr Who guest actors!

Nah I don't like it. I LOVE it! Vincent Price is one of the greatest there ever was. I do love the way there was almost a sub genre of films that were just Vincent Price going round killing people in insanely over the top ways. As hysterical as Dr Phibes is though, I don't think anything can top Theater of Blood.
Incidentally as far as Who connections go a sadder one is that Dr Phibes was Hartnell's last ever film appearance, but he was cut from the film at the last minute. His scenes have never resurfaced as far as I know.

I agree that story wise, Theatre of Blood is probably the better film - it has a better cast and is much funnier and more gruesome (using Shakespeare as the inspiration for acts of murder is pure genius) but I love the style, colours and designs of the Dr Phibes films - those gorgeous Art Deco sets and fashions. Plus the wicked organ music, too. Sad to hear that Hartnell was cut from the film.
