Also - I quite like the one he did with Dolly Parton; ' Rhinestone' (1984)

I've always found him quite funny myself. Diane Lane is also pretty good in her role. Visually it's stunning. People hate it for some reason, but I think it's a blast.

I think there are a quite a few reasons why people don't like the first Judge Dredd film, but for me, its because it doesn't resemble the source material - the original Dredd comic strip is an ultra violent, mad, clever, Sci Fi satire, full of black humour and nastiness, whereas the Stallone flick is little more than a futuristic action/adventure. Plus, a big part of the appeal of the character is that we don't ever get to see his face, but as you know, not long into the film, Dredd takes off his helmet and really, it then becomes just another ( rather average)Stallone movie. But saying that, there are bits of it I like, and in some ways, it captures the look of Dredd's future world very well.

Stallone as Judge Dredd:
"UH UM DA LUUURGH!"
"UH JESS NOOOO YEWED SAY DAT!"
F*cking dreadful.
Thank Christ for Karl Urban who washed a nasty taste out of the mouth.

I first saw him in Xena the Warrior Princess where he played Julius Cesar. He was also the only one that was well cast in those ghastly JJ Abrams Star Trek movies. As for Sly, well I'm afraid I haven't seen many movies of his. I was much more of an Arnie fan growing up. He's my favourite, muscle bound, hammy action star of the 80s. (And the most fun one to impersonate. "YOU KEEEELLLLLLEEEEEEED MY FADDDDDDDAAAAAAAA, YOU KEEEEEELLLLLLEEEEEED MY MUDDDDDDAAAAAAA") The only Sly films I've seen are the Rocky movies and the first Rambo film. All were great, but I'm going to say Rocky 2 was the best. I did love Rocky 4 though as trashy as it was with the sex robot and the insanely strong, stereotypical Russian villain.

I never grew up with Arnie so I don't really have as much affection for his stuff as I do Stallone's work. I've been watching the Rocky films since I was about eight and I saw Cobra when I was twelve. I got into his other films in my mid teens. I only really got into the likes of Seagal and Van Damme in 2017 and I've never done a proper binge of Arnie's work. I do like Predator a lot and The first two Terminator films are awesome, though.
As for Rocky IV, sadly that robot has been cut out of the director's cut. Shame because that robot was charming and made it stand out from the other Rocky films. I love IV's montages too so I hope they're not altered in the DC. It should be streaming tomorrow on Amazon so it will be worth checking out and seeing how different it is to the original cut.

I prefer Arnie to Stallone myself personally, purely because he doesn't talk like he has a mouth full of marbles.

II is my least favourite, but it has the best drama in the series. Adrian going into a coma is one of the saddest moments. I love the montages and the rematch fight is better than the one in the first. I just find the first forty five minutes to be a bit slow. After that it picks up, but I much prefer III, IV and to a lesser extent V. I like them all though. I think you talked about Brian Thompson at one point on this forum or the old one so I think you should definitely watch Cobra too. He plays the leader of a deranged cult of axe wielding serial killers in Los Angeles. He's very menacing. Over the Top is great fun too. It's like a Rocky movie but instead of boxing its arm wrestling. Stallone is like a father figure to me. His movies give me that get up and go I need.
