Scream. Everyone slags off 3, but I prefer it to 2 personally. Of course there's a new one coming that isn't Craven/Williamson so I'm sure they'll feck it up any minute now.

I hadn't actually though of that but yes Scream is pretty solid from start to finish. The Maniac Cop trilogy remains pretty strong from start to finish also. The third film is weaker then the first two but I would not say it was actually bad.

Jurassic Park.
I'm sure most will disagree with me on this, but personally I think The Lost World is one of the best sequels, whilst the two Jurassic World movies were tremendous fun. (Though I can understand some complaints that the two Jurassic World movies felt at times like Godzilla/monster movies, rather than Dino movies due to the super Dinosaurs, and the anthropamorphic Dinosaur fights at the end.)
Jurassic Park 3 is by far the weakest, but even then it's still not a bad film. I'd rate it on the level of a Dinosaur B-movie, but with better effects. I think it gets a hard time because it is following on from one of the greatest films ever made.
I don't think any of the Jurassic Park films approach the later Terminator sequels in terms of being dreadful, and I think the Jurassic World movies show how you can bring something new into what is still a fairly limited formula.

Also Evil Dead. The first two sequels are at least as good as the original, whilst Ash Vs Evil Dead is better than the films. It has Dana DeLorenzo in it so what do you expect?
Oh can any of you tell whether it's Dana or Amy W in my profile pic?

I was going to post something similar but wanted to mull it over to be shore I wasn't being biased, but I agree. I love all these film and could watch them at any time. The Lost World did what it as a film set out to do, give us the JP dinosaurs in a free and wild setting, and there is a lot of deeper meaning then it's often given credit for, as well as unleash all hell on San Diego. I'll be honest, I prefer the novel but the film is great fun. JP3 simple suffers from being a mandated film. The studio wanted it made but none really had a strong vision for it, as a result you get was is basically Lost World Light. That said the film is actually very competently made, the cast are far from bad and it's a lot of fun most of the time. Like you say it's the most B-Movie ish of the lost but takes itself a bit more seriously then most of that kind do. I love the Jurassic World and if I'm brutally honest I struggle to understand most of the critics throw at them. To take your terminator comparison into account, that franchise has done pretty much everything wrong since T2. Every Film bar Salvation is simply just remaking T2 with a reworked script with diminishing returns and worse ideas each time. Salvation mean while had the right idea, do something different, but what possessed the team in charge not to try and match scenes shown in prior films I have no idea. They turned the future war into a generic sci-fi film and thats a bitter shame. With Jurassic World it has been refreshing that the films have been taking the franchise in a new direction, something most sequels really struggle with, and while their not perfect, nothing is.

The Karate Kid sequels. Even the fourth film with Hilary Swank is a perfectly serviceable coming of age film and arguably one of the better "gender role swap" films out there. II is a wonderfully crafted adventure and III is cocaine-fulled madness and my favourite of the films.

The Psycho films. Psycho II is arguably better than the original, Psycho III is the most colourful and Psycho IV ties up the Norman Bates saga in a simple yet effective way.

I like the Vacation sequels. Everyone craps on European Vacation and I've never understood why. It's so 80s and fun. Surely I'm not alone in my love for it. Help me out, Ian?

I don't think III is a bad movie. The first 15 minutes are good, but when they get to the Western setting the movie almost seems to slow down. Someone once described III as feeling like a hang over after the craziness of the second movie. I know which sequel I'd rather watch on a Saturday night.
