Roger Moore made three films in the 80s while Dalton made two. Which set of films is better? Personally, I like all three 80s Moore films. For Your Eyes Only has really grown on me and I adore Octopussy. AVTAK is very underrated as well. Unfortunately the Dalton films have gone down in my list and I don't like either of them. Daylights I just think is dull and lacking a really great villain like Max Zorin. Licence to Kill has a good villain, but it has a generic story and in the end it just feels like a Miami Vice TV movie special with Bond thrown in. I think Daylights is slightly better just because John Barry scores the movie and Caroline Bliss gets more screentime as Moneypenny. There's no way that Licence is better than AVTAK. All in all I think Moore was better served in the 80s and I would have been quite happy if they had ended the series with his final film. You could say that he finally retired after that mission as he was getting too old to be a spy. 1977-1985 is the golden age for the series in my opinion.

Dalton. Both his films have the opposite flaws (Daylights has a shaky script but excellent direction and production values yet Licence has a great script but TV Movie level direction and production values) but remain an interesting insight into an era cut short and Dalton himself is sublime.
Moore has FYEO which is his best and my no.1 but Octopussy and AVTAK are flat and staid.

Yeah, Licence looks very cheap. Probably the cheapest looking Bond film since TMWTGG. I love John Glen, but it is definitely his worst work.
