I think it was because Stallone was pretty hard up at the time. You’ve got to eat some how. I think it was a pretty tough time for him, based on the what he said about his dog and how he helped him get through some tough times. That dog played Butkus actually. That film was worth a lot more after Sly broke into the big time with Rocky, it wasn’t even called Italian Stallion, that was its rereleased title.
