At least one DVD site is listing season 17 on Blu ray and the animated Galaxy 4 as being for release in December and November respectively.

That sounds promising! Indeed I'd like to see Season 17 remastered in particular - just to own another bluey with Lalla Ward I wonder if they'll add any new cgi effects options like previous such releases? I think Destiny already had a new effects option on the old DVD release and I can't imagine them tinkering with Shada again. That leaves City (I don't think anything needs cgi-ing there does it?), then Creature, Nightmare and Horns and actually those last three might well benefit from being spruced up.

Indeed I'd like to see Season 17 remastered in particular - just to own another bluey with Lalla Ward Although I'm indifferent to seasons 15 and 16, I oddly like season 17 a lot. City of Death and Shada are outstanding, and the rest of the season, although patchy in places and often unintentionally hilarious, still has plenty of entertaining elements within. Looking forward to this release. I'm one of the few who seems to really enjoy the majority of both seasons 17 and 18, despite their stark differences tonally.

I like both season 17 and 18 too - they somehow compliment each other I think perhaps because they're so different in tone and, when combined, make for a great variety of stories. Also Tom and Lalla make a great team throughout.

I hated it at the time, but have warmed more toward Season 17 as the years have worn on, it's certainly better than Season 16.
"Destiny" is a poor sequel to "Genesis of the Daleks" and contains too much of Adams and Tom Bakers buffoonery and some chronic support cast "acting", however it's visually quite nice in places and the cliffhangers are quite good in the story.
"City of Death" is over-rated, but a good enough story. It reminds me in many ways of a more modern reiteration of "The Time Warrior" and tonally very similar. Again, it has generally good production values and visually quite nice in places.
"Creature From The Pit" - this one is under-rated, I honestly think it's every bit as good as "City". The production values are generally quite good even if tonally the whole series is too much like "Crackerjack" in places. The studio jungle is well realised and the interplay between The Doctor and Adrasta is generally entertaining.
"Nightmare of Eden" - This one starts to show creaking production values, the casting and acting is particularly poor in places and it looks cheap, the Mandrels look ridiculous. However I still stand by the script which is pretty darn good in places.
"Horns Of The Nimon" - Pretty awful. Crackerjack type stuff with a budget to equal that programme. The Nimons voices are well realized is about the only positive thing I can think of.
"Shada" - like "City", over-rated, but a good enough if rather pedestrian type story. Lots of nice location stuff and rich on characterization, but a little self-indulgent and flabby in places also. The Kraags also join the ranks of the 70's fashion design disaster monsters of this season. Why do all the monsters have flared trousers or platform heels?(apart from Erato which is a gangrenous phallus)

It's probably down to perspective and hindsight. Given what we've had to endure later, even some of Tom's lesser stories now seem not only wonderfully entertaining but relatively masterpieces.

I've seen Lalla Ward's bum.

Blu-ray.com is now also listing season 17 for December. The BBC will no doubt make an official announcement at the end of November.

I'm waiting for the 4K version of Season 17 myself.

Very much just a rumour, but one YouTuber claims that Fraser Hines told him that they're working on a Highlanders animation. Would open up the historicals if true!
