68 year old comedian Gareth Hale has been confirmed as the new Time Lord, replacing Jodie Whittaker in the role. Hale, famous for being part of the comedy duo Hale & Pace in the 90s, says he's happy to return to the show for the first time since 1989.



Gareth Hale: "Yes, I'm very happy. Very happy indeed. I was actually in the show when Sylvester McCoy was the Doctor and I rang him up the other day to ask him for advice. It's absolutely fantastic to be given a role as big as this and I hope fans will be happy with my take on the character. I'm buzzing and I can't wait to get going honestly."

When asked if his old comedy buddy Norman Pace will feature in his era, Gareth was hopeful.

"I would like him to pop in and help me fight some aliens, but it's up to the people that write the series. I'm sure something can be done to have him make an appearance."
