Steptoe and Son - My goto series for a number of years now, Steptoe and Son is a very funny and dark series, with a lot more character and heart then it’s sometimes given credit for. What makes it work for me is that Albert and Harold are very well rounded characters with both their good and bad qualities, creating a far more interesting dynamic then many similar shows. I also view this show as a big What If to the question of if I lived with my biological father.
Red Dwarf - probably the greatest science fiction comedy series of all time. Red Dwarf basically takes all of the sci-fi trips of the surrounding decades and flips them on their head, with the very much not-best of humanity desperately trying to survive in a hostile universe. It’s just a very fun, well written series with a great caste.
Dad’s Army - Incompetence and comradeship are at the heart of this series. While amazingly written, what really helps sell the show is the bond the caste share, which is even stronger then that if Red Dwarfs I feel.
Dinosaurs - the best family comedy show IMO which combines amazing puppet work with intelligent writing. The fact it’s a puppet show allowed the creators to do more serious topics in the ways they wanted to rather then following the more network approved ways. It’s also the Jim Henson production at their finest. While it didn’t have many seasons the show has withstood the rest of time very well and ended on a high not, unlike many of its contemporaries of the time.
Others would be…
Black Adder, Bottom and The Young Ones.
My new wife also got me watching One Foot in the Grave.

One Foot In The Grave is good, but at times I find it too depressing. The best episode is the Scarecrow one. I'll leave it at that in case you haven't seen it LOL.
Mine would probably be.
Britcoms only
The Young Ones Bottom Blackadder Red Dwarf The Mighty Boosh The Office Extras (but not the dire Christmas special.) Father Ted Black Books Hancock's Half Hour
