Good luck to him. I always thought he got a bad wrap from the fandom. His performance wasn't great, but he wasn't that bad and Adric had a brilliant exit.
I always felt the fandom liked to bully him.

Moffat was particularly hard on Matthew on the old Earthshock DVD. Moffat called him an "audience member who had strolled on to the set and interacted with the regulars" |

He has a cheek. I think I did a thread who would you rather was wiped from Doctor Who Moffat or Waterhouse and Moffat topped the poll. |

I made some great friends in my school's Sci-Fi Club back in the day... but outside of that I've found fandom very cliquey in the extreme.
