Vervoids. Just watch the SE on the Blu ray then you don't need to fast-forward the Trial drek.

Vervoids, but even then it's still basically Robots Of Death 2: Killer Vaginafaced Plant Edition. I'd opt for UF for it's first half but the second half is such a bag of arse that I have to bail on it.

Vervoids is fine if you fast forward through the tedious Trial nonsense. I do enjoy The Ultimate Foe as well mainly because of the extensive location filming at night (which was quite rare during that era of the show). I'm going to go for Vervoids though because it introduces Mel and it works without the Trial stuff. The other two segments are utter shite though. Vervoids, for its faults, has individual stuff I like. The dialogue is perhaps as witty as Who got, and the ramping up of tension for the cliffhangers is fine too - I agree with Maxil the Trial stuff just gets in the way. And my God, the body count at the end ramps up, doesn't it? Ultimate Foe comes close, tho. I like Ainley, Bellingham, Jayston and Hughes in it, and Baker is in his element.

Ultimate Foe is a joy to watch. A little pantomime near the end, but it's a worthy one to call the final time lord story of the classic era.
Vervoids is a great Doctor Who story without all the trial moments

I used to like The Ultimate Foe the most simply because it boasts rare night footage. I like how Saward referred to the Matrix here as "Jack the Ripper town." It does have a very Victorian feel to it, but I wish more was made of it. I remember watching Trial with my late Grandad in the room and he remarked that some of Trial was good but other parts were terrible. He did however seem to be quite interested in The Ultimate Foe and laughed a few times at Glitz as well as noting the use of a Dickens quote. I think Vervoids is the best now though just because it feels like a complete story that can easily exist outside of the Trial stuff.

I remember really enjoying Ultimate Foe, but I'll give it to Mindwarp for being the most memorable and interesting.
