I watched this one again yesterday and I came away from it with a new appreciation. It has climbed up my McCoy list by about six or seven places while the likes of Time and the Rani and Bannermen have gone down a few (shame). I'm glad I like it a lot now, but I'm even more frustrated that it was axed. It's better than Ghost Light in my opinion although not on the same level as Fenric. Is it a fitting end to the series? I think so. You've got one of the Doctor's greatest foes, a sense of peril throughout and it ties up the Ace trilogy well. Part three is probably the best of the bunch and one of the best individual episodes from the McCoy era. I love Ace being possessed and not being able to control her animal instincts. The Perivale setting looks great onscreen and it feels quite modern for the time. It's almost like a taste of what 90s who would have been like had it continued on.

I find it a very appropriate ending in many ways, and not just the final speech. Should have stayed finished here.

I watched this one again yesterday and I came away from it with a new appreciation. If I had a quid everytime you mention this in a review, I'd be an millionaire. In all seriousness, It wraps it up well but still remains the weakest of the Ace trilogy. Part one is the best but after they get to the Cheetah planet, we get introduced to Ace's dullard friends and it starts to flag there, Ainley and McCoy's scenes are great and the final showdown between them on the Cheetah Planet is great but his plan of striking out in getting teen gangs to chicken race is a bit cack. Still, I've always found the ending to be quite understated in a way. It's a shame we haven't seen Doctor Who for 32 years now.....

Everything comes full circle for everyone. By this point, all the major foes had been vanquished, and Ace's 'multiple choice' fates in the canon make it all the easier to dismiss every single one of them
Seven and Ace are still out there. Righting wrongs before the tea gets cold.

"If I had a quid everytime you mention this in a review, I'd be a millionaire" I do tend to change my mind a lot. I tried watching Bannermen the other day and I just couldn't get into it. The more I come to appreciate the later Cartmel era stories (Silver Nemesis and Survival in particular) the more I find myself losing interest in Season 24. It's taken me this long to realize that Survival is ace. I do agree with the teen gang bit although it seems like something that Ainley's Master would do. He's brilliant in the story especially when he's possessed. The bit where he heartlessly stabs Kara is quite shocking.

I'm sorry if that statement prior came off as narky or condescending, it was more just a light joke. Sorry if any offence was caused. It's honestly good that you're open to revaluating media. On the subject of Survival, for all my gripes with it, it's amusing to see stalwarts of various late 80s/90s TV that I used to watch then. Namely Hale and Pace, Kate Eaton (Ange) who played an fanatically religious Welsh girl in A Very Peculiar Practise who goes off with a Scottish preacher played by an up and coming Hugh Grant and Adele Silva (Squeak) who would grow up to play that little minx Kelly Windsor in 1990s Emmerdale Farm.

Hey, no worries at all. I took it is a joke anyway. I got a shock when I looked Adele Silva up lol Did she got gorgeous or what? Kate Eaton is good in her little role. I always enjoyed seeing Ace's mates personally. All this "Rose was the first companion to have this, that and the other" bullshit is just pure nonsense. The Hale & Pace appearance gets criticised by some, but I really like their dialogue. Gareth and Norman are actually quite good actors if you look at their sketch show.

Maxi, I keep telling you this, but stop watching the same damn stories 12 times in six months! Of course you're not going to enjoy them as much. Overwatching is a real thing!

Ah Survival, it’s last episode aired a week to the day before I was born. In hind sight I always felt a bit cheated growing up in the wilderness years. They show never even factored once into my childhood at all and I never truly had a Doctor of my own. Sorry Mcgan you don’t count. In my early years Doctor Who was out of the mainstream light and beyond my and other potential new fans reaches for years as children. It was not all bad as I got to live through the new age of dinosaur media that boomed in the 90’s.
In a way Survival is the best ending for the show because it ends how is started. The Doctor came into our lives by chance and then his travels took him elsewhere. No over the top nonsense, no fuss, the strange traveler from the stars departs as he came. In fact part of me like to imagine that while Seven and Ace had more adventures and a life afterwards, possibly the Doctor moved on from earth. Oh he still piped by every now and then, but it was finally time for him to move on.
