The original is a 90s classic and arguably the last truly great John Hughes movie. He was never really same after the 80s, but Home Alone is definitely a strong contender for his best script. I've been watching this film since I was about four so obviously I have a lot of nostalgia for it like so many other people do. It isn't Christmas without it to be honest.
Home Alone 2: Lost in New York is a film I loved as a kid but have become less enamored with it as an adult. I like the New York stuff, but it is essentially a redo of the original with less heart and originality. The bigger is always better approach doesn't quite work. It isn't an awful film by any means.
Home Alone 3 is an even bigger step down, but like Home Alone 2 it isn't a terrible film. I actually don't mind Alex or the villains. I always fancied the bad chick in it and the soundtrack has a cool mix of oldies and more 80s/90s stuff like Oingo Boingo.
Home Alone 4 is obviously a bad film. I like the smart house idea and I find the odd joke quite amusing, but it feels so cheap compared to the first three. At no point does a shoot in sunny South Africa feel like Christmas in Chicago.
Home Alone: The Holiday Heist is something I've not seen and probably never will.
Home Sweet Home Alone is something I've seen the first two minutes of. I couldn't bring myself to watch the rest.

First 2 are fun, never bothered after that.

I have a soft spot for 3, because it was the only one I had on DVD. Even though I missed Harry and Marv, the traps were still fantastic.
