I mean, let's be honest, he's a bit crap. Just a bit. Maybe a lot. Well, a hell of a lot.

And I see Moffat is still digging up crap from his earlier stories.

He's so completely out of material. And so is Russell. I really don't understand what joy they might possibly find in producing Doctor Who at this point, because it surely cannot satisfy them on a creative level. Not to mention it's genuinely a major step back for both of their careers. RTD enjoyed a long and prosperous period of popularity with general audiences from his first Doctor Who run all the way to Years and Years.
Moff stayed too long, but he at least tried to branch out with things like Sherlock, Tintin and Dracula. Now they're both back to being the 'Doctor Who guys'.

He's shockingly bad as an actor. I can't say that about any of the others. I've heard good things about Jodie in Broadchurch and I don't mind her in the show, but Gatwa's line delivery is unnatural and strange. Russell must have been thinking with his little head on this occasion.

Russell must have been thinking with his little head on this occasion. Jodie wasn't the problem with Broadchurch.... But the best thing I've seen her in was a 2011 supernatural/ghost story series called "Marchlands". I think she's OK at playing 'regular' characters, but she was obviously just completely unsuitable as a Doctor. But in more 'everyday' stuff she's alright. Far more watchable than Tennant anyway. I can't watch him in anything. I can't disassociate him from NuWho. 😂

But yeah the trailer looks crap. It's not just Nc*nti that's rubbish. The whole things is just in the pits. It's just more of the same.

In contrast I found that the only watchable bit of Ncuti's era so far, but that's only because it had a T. rex LOL. Ncuti I agree whilst a bit more Doctorish simply because he's spouting exposition rather than picking up party boys, or talking about having fingers up his arse, is still bad. His delivery is too stilted and awkward.
I also agree with Rushy that what possible reason could these guys have to be making DW now? Give someone else a go, please!

Someone else might make it properly. This terrifies them.

I thought Season 1 delivered two very good episodes, 73 Yards and Legend of Ruby Sunday, but the bad ones leave too much of a stain. The issue is that Season 2 was written and filmed not long after Season 1 which means Russell and co have not had any time to work on the things that didn't work. The same mistakes will be repeated next year, that much is true. How dare anyone even consider giving this thing a third season when nobody lifted a finger to help the McCoy era despite being better in every way.

How dare anyone even consider giving this thing a third season when nobody lifted a finger to help the McCoy era despite being better in every way. Well, two very different scenarios really. But I can't imagine Davies/Moffat admitting to any mistakes. It's all perfect, didn't you know? You'll have Russell calling you 'poor baby' if you're not careful, for challenging his excellent almightiness. Re McCoy, Regardless of the upswing in quality of S25 and 26, the Grade faction had already made its mind up about the fate of the original series. I'm not a JNT hater by any stretch, but I do believe mistakes were made that culminated in the two worst seasons in the shows history (23 and 24) went some way towards sealing its fate. Plus all the f*cking around with its time slot since Davo's era didn't help. But yes of course, it was a great shame as it was well on the way to regaining its former reputation when it was stopped in its tracks because Grade didn't happen to like it.

At least JNT realized that the light entertainment of Season 24 wasn't flying with the vast majority of fans. That's why we got Remembrance of the Daleks the following year. Even the more colourful adventures have a dark edge to them and don't veer too heavily towards panto. I admire John for admitting when he was wrong as well. People can say what they want about him, but as I've always said when he got it right he got it right. Russell just gets his arse kissed on a daily basis. If they ever release a book called "The Dangers of Being Surrounded by Yes Men" they should make sure to fill up the cover with Russell's face.

Funny thing is that season 24 wasn't entirely JNT's idea anyway. Michael Grade told him to make it lighter supposedly because publica had taken against it being darker (Which wasn't true.) Grade and a lot of people don't know this, also banned the Daleks from appearing for two years (Seasons 23 and 24, two seasons that could really have used a Dalek romp to boost ratings. We can also assume the same was true of the Cybermen who are also notable by their absence during those key years to win back the public.) Meanwhile as soon as Grade leaves the BBC after season 24, the first thing we get is a darker, more serious Dalek adventure. Coincidence? I think not.
