The article also notes that Ncuti's comments contrast with those made by RTD not that long ago.

If this isn't genuine and he is just trying to force Disney to commit, that could be a big mistake.
That's how Angel and by extension the entire Buffverse finished by the way.
Joss Whedon tried to do this with Angel that got a huge boost for its fifth season thanks to Spike. He tried to make the head of the network commit earlier to season 6, as Joss felt they earned it, but the head of the network got pissed, said "f*ck you" and axed it. Now to be fair in that case the head of the network was a petty dickhead, but still sadly they often are and it's best not to bait them like this, IF Ncuti isn't telling the truth.
Again I might add Angel's viewers had gone UP not down when that happened too.

The confirmation from Ncuti didn't make final broadcast.
Did the BBC cut it because of RTD's statements in DWM? Did they cut it because there's no guarantee of a series being filmed in 2025? Or did they cut it because Ncuti is now unemployed as rumoured and thus can't do series three?

Just let it f*cking die BBC. What more does a show have to do to get cancelled? Colin Baker's viewers dropped in the most marginal way possible and that was enough for Grade to say "axe it, axe it right away." Literally the drop from Davison's last to Colin's first is 7.14 million to 7.12 million. The drop from Ten Inch's glorious return to Ncuti's first is 6.85 to 3.48. Basically halved, (and yes that's including all the I Player, fiddled viewers, and represents tv shows only a few months apart so the changing landscapes crap doesn't work there I'm afraid.) On top of that it's been savaged by fans, episodes voted at the absolute bottom in every poll, become a by word for show that lost its way to the GP, and it's now going to have to face a two year hiatus (longer than Colin's was.) AND its leading man probably won't be doing it at that point anyway. Just f*cking axe it and leave it another ten years. It's dead. You were given ample warning, better luck next time.

Good. The longer it stays off the better.
