Rob was considering doing a poll, but I decided to give it go because I have some free time. So vote away!

City of Death for me. Paris, Lalla, Tom off the leash, Deadly Dudley's best score, Douglas Adams wit and John Cleese.

City of Death for me. Paris, Lalla, Tom off the leash, Deadly Dudley's best score, Douglas Adams wit and John Cleese. None of that tops Irongron and Linx's legendary interspecies, volatile bromance. If you disagree you'll feel an axe in your skull. Also as far as humour and wit honestly Bob Holmes leaves Douglas Adams in the dust in this case. NOTHING beats Irongron's description of Jon Pertwee "is this Doctor a long, shank rascal with a mighty nose." LMFAO. I also love how the Doctor ends up revealing himself to Irongron through his own English politeness. "Isn't that a bit unsporting old chap, I mean sitting ducks and all that?" Time Warrior is hysterical. I mean yeah City of Death is a timeless classic and everything, but put it up against Linx and well I'm sorry but.

I said I wouldn’t vote. However, if City of Death doesn’t receive an extra two votes by this evening, I’ll be voting for it by default to balance this poll out.

However, the membership have largely championed The Time Warrior over City of Death in other threads, so I’m not betting on this scenario taking place. I’ll look like an arse if I’m wrong, though!

Dunno, lots of people hugely rate City Of Death even if I'm not one of them(I think it's one of the better ones from the Williams era though). It almost always makes poll top tens without fail.

I’d personally be intrigued by a poll which pitted The Brain of Morbius against Attack of the Cybermen- I’m certain it’d be closer than anywhere else in the fandom.

Considering that City of Death was in Kimbergoths top ten, she'll probably vote for it if and when she turns up again. I'm sure a few other posters will do too. As for Brain of Morbius vs Attack of the Cybermen? Oooooh, that IS a tricky one! Both are Classics, but with slight flaws. I'm not sure which way I would go with that one.

I quite like the idea of pitting two acclaimed (or sometimes less acclaimed) serials against each other and seeing how much the results differ from the mainstream. I listed that option purely because I’d also struggle to settle on a final vote. Let’s see- Maxil, Kimbergoth and Iank would opt (or have opted) for City, which would see both serials tied. After that, it’s anyone’s guess. If it’s left at that, I won’t need to vote after all!

That IS always a danger… At least I’m only prevaricating over polls instead of over something a little (or markedly) more serious…

This forum tends to buck the trend now and again, however. I’d personally be intrigued by a poll which pitted The Brain of Morbius against Attack of the Cybermen- I’m certain it’d be closer than anywhere else in the fandom. Attack of the Cybermen is the epitome of let's just decide to hate on a story. So many of the criticisms against it don't even make sense. Look at tv tropes. For an example of what might be considered the nadir of this approach, watch the serial "Attack of the Cybermen", which is almost incomprehensible without a degree in background knowledge of the show's history. And if you are that kind of fan, you'll be outraged by the conflicts between the story and the stories it was trying to reference, which caused a Continuity Snarl that some people think was the reason that the 2000s Cyberstories started from scratch with Cybermen from a parallel universe. How is Attack in any way a "continuity snarl" with Tomb? Ironically the Cybus Cybermen were what made Cyber history needlessly complicated as now there were Cybermen from another universe, who actually weren't even counterparts as they came from earth in that reality and had a totally different way of converting people? Attack is a fine story and yes better than Brain to be honest. Lytton's character development is fascinating and decades ahead of its time. It's what we'd see in things like Buffy, Xena, Charmed all the time. Lytton's almost a proto Spike in that adventure in some ways. Brain meanwhile like I said it's enjoyable and there are a lot of great ideas, and Bob Holmes dialogue is top notch, but it's also flawed. Due to being a rewrite there are some gaping plot holes as Terrance Dicks pointed out, some plot threads that go nowhere like Condo being a cannibal, and some of the acting from Lis Sladen and Ohica's legendary EYE acting LOL as well as the sloppy direction like the Sister who waits for 30 mins for Morbius to catch her and goes limp when he grabs her are laughable by today's standards. Only thing that is shit in Attack are the Cryons. Their costumes are laughable. I also didn't like making them all women. Not because I hate women LOL but war of the sexes storylines are never a good idea. I'd have had no problem with flast being a woman and the sergent being a Gina Carano/Michelle Rodriguez style badass, but making them all women was silly.

The idea is that you just vote for the one think is best, or just enjoy the most. It's not about 'balancing it out'.
