If only Jimmy Saville and Kevin Spacey had played the Doctor from 2005 onwards...

I liked how they creatively cut around Saville on the Colin DVDs.

I liked how they creatively cut around Saville on the Colin DVDs. I remember on the Sontaran Experiment DVD there is a special feature about the history of the Sontarans called Built for War. At the end they cover A Fix with Sontarans, and there is an interview with Colin Baker where all he says about the skit is. "Jimmy Savile is far more terrifying than a Sontaran. I'll leave it at that." That interview was recorded and released in 2001 or 02 I think? Many years before he died and he was exposed. I remember at the time thinking "what does he mean by that?" I didn't know about Savile, being lucky enough to be born after his star had fallen, but he just seemed like a lame Alan Patridgesque cheesy tv host from what I'd seen of the clips. Still years later it became clear. Incidentally future releases have reportedly cut this bit out, but I still have that DVD from when I was a child. Never tell me that the heads at the Beeb didn't know EXACTLY what he was up to and that there wasn't a cover up by the elites. Not blaming Colin here obviously. I think people are hard on the likes of Johnny Rotten and Colin who DID try to expose him. Ultimately they didn't have any proof and had they gone to the police it would have gone nowhere. It's the elites who were protecting him that want burnt. It's incredible the BBC was allowed to go on after Savile to be honest.

I was a bit late to the draw on this one! But it has been preying on my mind...
The problem with the BBC junking the episode is that it isn't just his dreadful acting in it that will be lost to the world (no great loss) but now there's too much archive stuff he was involved with which means all those programs will now be expected to be removed too, but where does it end? As well as the death of the Queen he presented the news since 1994, several elections, Remembrance day, Royal weddings, Newsnight, Panorama, deaths of Mandela and Prince Philip etc etc. How are they going to airbrush him out of all that? If you watch old BBC sitcoms (ie the good ones) there's nearly always an innocent joke about Gary Glitter and particularly Jimmy Saville which hasn't been cut. And then of course there's Noel Clarke and the programs he was in such as Auf Wiedersehen Pet.
Frankly the BBC is now suffering from its tendency to keep shoehorning its big stars into as many programs as possible!

I liked how they creatively cut around Saville on the Colin DVDs. What's the use of cutting around him? If you're going to use scissors near the loathsome nonce bastard aim nearer the neck.

Well, quite. What's the point now..? If they wanted to cut Savile, they should've cut his bollocks off when they had the chance and when it would have made a difference. So, this prevents some people seeing Savile who may be upset by it. Okay. But is that really the point, or is what we're seeing here more accurately interpreted as the BBC sweeping its past misdemeanours under the carpet. If you can't see it, then it didn't happen...

Apparently Fear Her is being re-edited with another newsreader and will then be back up.

Apparently Fear Her is being re-edited with another newsreader and will then be back up. I’d like to see the questions for that interview! “So you’re absolutely SURE you won’t end up with incriminating photos on your phone in nearly 20 years time?”

You have to respect him for that.
