The BBC have removed Fear Her from the iPlayer following what has happened with Huw Edwards (his voice is heard in one scene) deadline.com/2024/08/doctor-who-episode-huw-edwards-removed-bbc-iplayer-1236029881/This episode sucks, but I'm totally against removing it from streaming sites. I heard they were going to replace his voice with another actor's but that's obviously not the case now. I would have been for that or just muting the scene altogether.

I suppose it would be asking too much to digitally insert a paedo into every episode, wouldn't it..?

What a huge loss to the programme. Almost on par with Power of the Daleks being wiped.

Funny, but this sort of thing is beyond ridiculous and childish.

I wonder what will happen when Rusty gets outed.
Sorry, I mean if. IF. IF. Obviously.

Funny, but this sort of thing is beyond ridiculous and childish. Agreed- it’s an appalling episode, but this is odd and nonsensical. Does this mean that any footage of the 2015, 2017 and 2019 General Elections featuring Huw Edwards is also off limits now?

Let’s be blunt. Even if one advocates cultural censorship- which I don’t- Fear Her is of absolutely no cultural significance whatsoever and is regularly derided by audiences. Most people wouldn’t give a shit about Edwards’ appearance.
Indeed, the scene in which he appears is widely panned and ridiculed (“It’s courage and it’s love!”), and the episode is widely seen as a low point in the programme's history by those who even remember it. And most people don’t.
So what’s the point of this? Optically, why was this done? How does this display anyone’s “virtue”?

And good luck with ever being able to use the announcement of the Queen's death for documentary purposes now. Shame they didn't employ rather more rigorous screening 30 years ago, isn't it? I suppose they can always change the voice with AI and superimpose an image of Mr. Blobby...

Basically what you're saying is, what the f*ck is the point in worrying about who appeared in something with no rewatch value... If they're worried about the audience being harmed, they should just wipe the thing. Or stick a warning at the beginning stating "This programme contains gratuitous mawkish sentimentality that may cause diabetes and dreadful dialogue that some viewers may find disturbing... ...and tbf, only one of the paedos we employed..."

If they're worried about the audience being harmed, they should just wipe the thing. I’d happily trade this f ucking thing in for two episodes of The Daleks’ Master Plan myself. As far as I can ascertain, there’s one less nonce in that…

Shitty episode, and it won't be missed.
But, I hope this serves as a warning shot of a digital economy which how creativity can be undone with the press of a button.
Physical media matters.

Looking forward to the day when the 3 showrunners are all outed in some sort of nonce cabal, then the whole lot of it can be excised.
