"I think Doctor Who’s fine. I think there are things happening in the culture wars, particularly with trans rights these days that are a million times more important than what’s happening with Doctor Who.”
Well, there we have it. Not that any of this hasn't been self-evident for the better part of a decade, but to actually hear it from the horse's mouth in plain English is incredible. The brass neck of this cunt. Here's an idea for you, Russell. If the show is so unimportant to you, how about you FUCK OFF and let someone who actually cares about the damn thing do the job? Fight your tedious little culture war elsewhere rather than hijacking something that's supposed to be for everyone and wasn't yours to destroy.

Absolute despicable, corrupt piece of garbage. And that's just Kurtzman.

Wouldn't surprise me if certain fans defended this by saying, "Yeah but Doctor Who has ALWAYS been fighting the culture war!"
We can add that to the ever growing list of what Doctor Who has ALWAYS been. Next people will be saying, "Doctor Who has ALWAYS been shite!"

Like Clockwork says; nothing we didn't already know. Just Davies virtue signalling to the converted. The really sad thing is than there are probably enough of these type of 'fans' to keep the shit-show going.

I don't think so, did you see the viewers for the last series LOL and the reception among fans? Whole thing is a joke now.

I hope you're right, but it's been a few years now that people have been saying that. I'm cynical that the various powers that be won't let it go so easily. And if the various websites and DW groups are anything to go by, these kind of so-called fans aren't insignificant in number. It may be a joke to us as 'traditional' fans, but not to them. But I hope I'm wrong.

A question for Clockwork: How did you circumvent the swear filter and successfully type “f*ck” and “c*nt”?

And if the various websites and DW groups are anything to go by, these kind of so-called fans aren't insignificant in number. It may be a joke to us as 'traditional' fans, but not to them. But I hope I'm wrong. Thing is though the show has had a very, very, very ropey history since 2014 which is when this shit really began. 2014, Missy appears sending a signal to anyone who is paying attention what the future of the show will be. Result? It loses 2 million viewers for its next season in 2015, which scores the lowest opening of any season. To quote Alan Partridge "they started badly, they got worse." It is then taken off the air in 2016 the viewers are so bad. The Beeb officially say it's so that it won't clash with the olympics, but that's horse shit. PS the 2012 season was shown during the year the Olympics were actually in the UK and therefore getting twice as much coverage and it did fine. It comes back in 2017 and its viewers sink to 2 million for one episode and its leading man in Capaldi is fired. Arguably the only reason it is given a reprieve is because of the novelty of a female Doctor. Jodie's first season airs in 2018 and does better than Capaldi's last two, but it's still not great, so the show whilst not taken off, is not at the top of their priorities like it was before. Another gap year follows, then Jodie's next season despite being on in the coveted winter slot tanks badly. Following this in the space of the next five years DW produces a grand total of...... one season. Ncuti Gatwa's that airs in 2024 is the first time Doctor Who actually had a season of shows since before the pandemic. Okay the pandemic will have slowed it down, but even then other shows bounced back rather quickly like Supernatural that finished DURING the pandemic. In between that time for Who meanwhile all we got was specials and a mini series. The much hyped female Doctor didn't even do a full 3 seasons. Add it up in total and that means that in the period between the end of season 8 in 2014 and Ncuti's first season in 2024, almost ten years, DW produced a total of......... 5 seasons. That's basically 5 years of a hiatus, almost as long as the hiatus between McCoy and McGann. All of this is before we get to the fact that the BBC Wales show was actually cancelled in 2022 anyway until Bad Wolf swept in. I mean fair enough it is made by people who are in with the bricks, but surely there does come a point of no return. Given the catastrophic failure of the Ncuti series, then I fail to see where there is left to go?

By channelling one's anger at the right pitch, one can hurl as many f ucks and c unts as their hearts desire.

But I hope I'm wrong. So do i. Something to consider though, of course, is that it isn't just us and them. The general audience has scarpered in droves. They're just not interested anymore. Ask the average man or woman on the street and they don't know or give a toss about the current state of Doctor Who. They don't know what the f*ck a "Culture War" is either. And this is the demographic we've always been told is the most important...
