It legitimately makes my blood boil that there are talented writers out there who'll never see a lick of success, meanwhile the "Rogue" episode of this series was literally a Bridgerton x Doctor Who fanfic written by two utterly talentless people. The most appallingly written episode in the show's history. RTD and Moffat at least have writing chops, but these two shouldn't even have been allowed near a Cbeebies show, let alone Doctor Who.

I've been thinking a lot about this, now that I am certain the wilderness years of this show are dawning, and I'm happy. The future of this show is fanfiction. That is, we are going to see a pedigree of writers and content creators who truly have a love and appreciation of this show, along with its lore. Of course, there's going to be a slew of deck and trash in its wake, but like Star Wars, it really going to be an era where the devoted fans step forward to write the show that they qant to watch since there is no affection in the writing as we are experiencing.

Ay, I'm with you there. Looking back, a lot of DW's Wilderness Years content was utter dreck, and it was the same for the Star Wars EU, but at least it was an earnest attempt to recapture the magic. You also got the occasional motherlode that was worth its weight in gold, as well as more weird/conceptual stuff.

Exactly. It'll take Star Wars a few more years to hit their wilderness but The Acolyte has certainly got the ball rolling.
I'm looking forward to it, and open to a ten year drought.
It'll be a bumpy ride, but there will be fun along the way.
Hopefully it sends a clear message as to what makes thos show work.

It needs to go away now, and take its current "fans" with it.
