The thing that is honestly genuinely terrifying about Reddit is the way if they want to believe something they just will. It doesn't matter what evidence you say, they will still insist it's true. For instance in a thread about John Lennon when they were going on about how he was a wife beating piece of shit who killed his unborn child by beating Yoko until she had a miscarriage, I posted that actually it wasn't true and they started calling ME a wife beater. So I then shared an actual speaking interview with Yoko where she debunks all of it and one with Cynthia where she debunks it, and what did they do? Thumbed my comment down to the point where nobody could see it and kept calling him a wife beater. It's insane. I've had similar experiences there. It's disturbing to see how quickly people can descend into a kind of primitive, tribal mob mentality and mass hysteria that enables them to conflate consensus with reality.
