You don't have to have been there. My choices have nothing to do with the political history of the country, but rather media and the look of the country itself. I love Germany. The NeverEnding Story, one of the best books ever written, was German and the film (of which I absolutely adore) was made by German filmmakers. The 1920s and early 30s saw some of the best movie achievements with Metropolis being the very best science fiction film from the first half the 20th century. Girls in Uniform is also another favourite as well as the creepy Nosteratu. Then there's the music scene in the 1980s which delivered some of the best synth music from the likes of Propaganda and NENA. I also adore the beautiful landscape and architecture. Some of it looks absolutely gorgeous: I adore Dirndls too. I mean, how attractive are they? I'd love to go there at some point. I haven't been out of the UK since 2011.

I haven't been out of Aussieland since 1991... Weep for me... I'm quite keen on Aus myself. It's not perfect, but I'm better off here than in UK. I was always keen on Holland, and often thought of moving there. I never envisaged ending up in Aus, but life takes u nexpected turns sometimes. There are things I miss about England of course, especially the comprehensive public transport. I used to value the NHS, but, after a recent visit and seeing the state it's in now, I realise how much Australia's medicare system is performing better, despite its flaws and illogical pay/rebate system.
