I wasn't a fan of Davros constantly being brought back either, but I disagree with her assessment. The character worked perfectly for Genesis and it really should've ended there, but I don't think she understood the character by the sounds of it.
As for Ainley, I've made my position clear on him so many times, I won't bother again, but her position it's hardly surprising, considering she worked with Delgado.
As for Missy, well that's where it all falls down. Like I said, she's a bit thick.
Honestly I think she is just biased because Ainley by all accounts was a weird guy backstage who could be stand offish, and "mysterious" McCoy and Colin Baker's comments back this up. Gomez by all accounts is a kind, sweet woman. I wouldn't expect Manning who was only in DW for three years, 50 years ago, and probably would have had 0 compunction to watch it otherwise as she's not exactly a big sci fi fan, to know the ins and outs of the Masters character.
However personally I think it is fair to say that she shouldn't just go along with received wisdom like old who was always worse than the revival, or that old who was a joke in the 80s because that's when it was axed etc, as much as she does.
Really the only thing that annoys me is when people use her reviews to say that's proof that Missy was the greatest Master because Katy who knew Roger loved her. Again what does that prove? Do these people even think Katy's watched these stories that often? I mean other than a commentary track where she's half watching it, half talking with/remembering old times with friends? Jon Blum was the worst for that. I remember him going into some pretentious, sappy crap about "She saw Roger, the old man who made her laugh, made her cry and brought joy to her life in Missy's crazy antics and you can't take that away from her." First off pass me a f*cking bucket, second of all I loved the way when I asked him to explain how exactly there is anything of Delgado in her antics like tickling Dalek balls, he just said "who are you to disagree with Katy?"
That's the only thing I'll hold against Katy, though granted given I liked the DW idiots starter pack post I can't get on my high horse too much about respect other people's opinions haha.
