When interviewed by Radio Times back in 2012, she had this to say about the creator of the Daleks:
"What Steven’s done is taken the Daleks further without falling into the trap of using Davros. The moment I saw Davros in the 70s, looking like everybody on the Tube round about six o’clock at night with their headphones on, it took away the menace of something that isn’t human. Because suddenly it’s half a bloke in there. There’s nothing human about a Dalek.”

I don't entirely disagree. Davros is a great character, but his stories generally reduce the Daleks to henchmen. Remembrance being the only exception, but even there, the Daleks are clearly not the dynamic villains they used to be there. They're evil pepperpots shooting at each other.

Katy Manning is so based when it comes to 80s Who. Her remarks about the Tremas Master are spot-on.

In a book I used to have she called classic who a "jumper with holes in" compared to the new series. I don't think she's "based" when it comes to anything.

Either way she lost the right to criticise his performance at least when she gushed over Missy. I mean who the f*ck is she kidding. Love you Katy but I actually think she is insulting my and other DW fans intelligence by saying that Missy is more like Delgado than Ainley. It is not to sound melodramatic, like 1984's how many fingers am I holding up, or Star Trek's how many lights are there. The Beeb who she obviously has to tow the line with think that we will just buy anything the makers of new who say, even if it outright flies in the face of what we can see with our own eyes.

She just said she couldn't take his mustache-twirling seriously, a view which I confer with.

She just said she couldn't take his mustache-twirling seriously, a view which I confer with. Yet watching Missy fly in as Mary Poppins, kill people with lethal perfume, stick her tongue down Peter Capaldi's throat, say show a bad girl how it's done, compare Dalek balls to testicles and tickle them, randomly switch accents "I THINK THEY'RE TRYING TO STEAL YOUR MOTOR!" Make jokes about Belgians not even being real French, kill young women because she was jealous (to be clear that is what Moff said NOT me) and look down at John Simm getting a massive erection at her threatening him, and give up a Cyber army to win back her boyfriend, quote cringey modern pop songs, have her face appear through a screen, all that was channelling Roger Delgado to Katy Manning and would have made him proud? Honestly it's soft bigotry of low expectations towards women in the genre simple as that. She is the first female Master so we are not only going to hold her to less of a high standard than a man in the role, (hence why Ainley chuckles and he's a mustache twirling villain she does, well the above and that's menacing) but in an insane effort to show how we don't notice the differences between men and women, we're going to say she was more like the Master than any man was! In the long run that attitude hurts women as it means that you don't have to bother as much with female characters or casting actresses in roles. Such a shame, as obviously women CAN play effective villains like Alti and Glory and Jadis etc. I'm not saying that women always get off easier than men. I HATE that attitude. Obviously women suffer from just as many if not more double standards than men. It's hard to weigh them all up, but yeah I don't buy into the MGTOW women are scared of accountability crap. This doesn't reflect society. This is basically people who are DW, a male led show fans, or associated with it, thinking that DW represents the entire sci fi and fantasy genre and therefore if it has a female villain that's groundbreaking, or Jodie similarly is the first female hero evah. Nothing worse than out of touch people thinking they are the leading lights. Sorry Katy but you're not fooling anyone with saying she is more Delgado than Ainley.

Manning has never struck me as the brightest bulb in the box. I wasn't a fan of Davros constantly being brought back either, but I disagree with her assessment. The character worked perfectly for Genesis and it really should've ended there, but I don't think she understood the character by the sounds of it. As for Ainley, I've made my position clear on him so many times, I won't bother again, but her position it's hardly surprising, considering she worked with Delgado. As for Missy, well that's where it all falls down. Like I said, she's a bit thick.

Truthfully I think Ainley was good I thought he wasn't as suave as Delgado he was more unhinged kind of a extension of the burned Master .

My favourite Ainley performances are in Trial and Survival.
