It's all such a bore. Most film discussions consist of a bunch of midwits prattling about "themes" and inner dialogues and muh sUbtExt. The only thing that matters in art is its aesthetic value. There is only the Aesthetic, the Aesthetic is all.

The only thing that matters in art is its aesthetic value. There is only the Aesthetic, the Aesthetic is all. So is the quality of the writing irrelevant?

The only thing that matters in art is its aesthetic value. There is only the Aesthetic, the Aesthetic is all. So is the quality of the writing irrelevant? Well that's part of the aesthetic value. The Mona Lisa wouldn't have near the amount of aesthetic value that it does if Da Vinci was just an alright painter. Technical skill is necessary for actualising pure aesthetic value.
