I wonder if, by the metric of a certain someone, William Peter Blatty is Johnny Byrne and William Friedkin is Eric Saward? Is the Exorcist a needlessly cruel, sadistic and human-hating affair in how the film dispenses of that very exchange in the film's theatrical cut? After all, I doubt that renowned moral guardian Mary Whitehouse would have appreciated the film... You know, they missed a trick with Regan MacNeils head spinning round on her neck. Now if only they'd had her turn into a Myrka instead.

Now if only they'd had her turn into a Myrka instead. "And I'm the Myrka! Now kindly undo these straps!" "If you're the Myrka, why not make these straps disappear?" "That's much too innocent and not mean-spirited enough a display of power, Karras. "
