Blakes 7 - Is the Doctors lack of involvement a problem?

I've often thought that Blakes 7 shares the same universe as ClassicWho when they both shared the same props, incidental music composer, writers etc, in fact it was rumoured that Terry Nation originally wanted the aliens fighting over Star One with the Federation to be the Daleks to end Season 2 on a climatic cliffhanger.

However, is the lack of the Doctors involvement in this series a problem?

Maybe the reason we never saw the black female incarnation of the Doctor in Blake's 7 is that they only turned up in the final scene to try and sort out the chaos.
