I just don't find it funny though. Neither do I. ๐ Nor me. It's mid-tier Who

In fact, truth be known, tonally it is a complete template and inspiration for NuWhos moronicness.(although obviously, it goes without saying that NuWho is far, FAR worse!) Nah- Season 24 is a more direct template for NuWho than this. City of Death doesnโt have any flying buses, incessant popculture references or pervasive gurning. Itโs only a superficial inspiration if one looks at intent- but the *reasoning* behind that intent is altogether different. You have to remember though that both Season 24 (and 23 to a lesser degree) were attempting (and failing in my opinion) to be Season 17's. NuWho certainly draws upon the TVM in some some of it's template, but undoubtedly I'd say tonally it's seeds are rooted in Season 17, 24 and 26.

I love City of Death. I prefer Shada a great deal more for it's Oxford setting Cambridge!

๐ Don't worry, I don't think you'll be needing to wheel out Love & Monsters. ๐ Good luck to whoever's the paving stone.

"That must be the most important punch in history!" Speaking of punches, the upper cut delivered by baker on Scarloni's Guard has to be the most badly directed punch in history! You see better in Batman.

You see better in Batman. Oh god that was awful. I thought it was meant to Venusian Karate for years as he literally just touches him and knocks the guy out LOL. I don't know why Baker was so awful there? He threw really convincing punches in Planet of Evil, Deadly Assassin and Seeds of Doom. In fact I'll go as far as to say in the early days Tom actually was the best for fights, even above Pertwee (to be fair Pertwee's was meant to be over the top but still.) Tom's fights had a grittiness to them where they were nasty, rough and unpleasant like when he is tangling with Goth in the river. That's what a real fight is like most of the time. However yeah City of Death I think they should have gone for another take. Meanwhile the fights in Batman weren't that bad LOL. I mean again they were meant to be silly, but honestly at least it looked like they threw punches. There are big budget films where you can see the fists don't connect like in Godfather when he's beating the abusive boyfriend up and his fist flies past him!
