I've been binging this classic detective drama - on season 9 at the moment. Some of these films are absolute classics. My personal favourites are "Prescription: Murder", "Suitable for Framing", "Dagger of the Mind", "A Stitch in Crime", "Any Old Port in a Storm", "By Dawn's Early Light" and "Fade in to Murder".

My mum used to watch it in the '70s, and I very often watched along too. I watched all the '70s ones again about 20 years ago, and really enjoyed it, but in all honesty the details are vague now. I remember one with Patrick McGoohan and one with William Shatner that I really liked. If I ever found the time I'd definitely watch them again, but there's too much other stuff on my to watch/listen pile. Maybe when I retire.

I've got all the 70s ones on DVD, though it's been a few years.

Columbo? Is that the man with the dirty mac who discovered America? Get the reference and I'll buy you a pint

Red Dwarf series 1 or 2. That's at least half a pint...

Not seen every episode but I love it all the same. My favourite episodes are the Martin Landau one, the first William Shatner one, and the Lawrence Harvey and Jack Cassidy episodes and above all else the Leonard Nimoy episode. Nimoy's killer is one of the biggest assholes of them all and even manages to make Columbo lose his rag he's so pissed off with him.

Still can't see it apart from you quoting it? Weird.

I thought the revival was a real mixed bag. A few classics here and there, but overall the change in production style is... rough. Falk is much more cutesy and self-aware in his old age, the directors are less creative and there's a lot of padding. Plus, just visually it's not quite the same. The only thing I like is that it shows the world changing around Columbo. In the first episode, he's investigating a sumptuous 1960s apartment. In the last one, he's in a 2000s rave club. There's definitely a novelty factor to that.
