"Doctor Who celebrated its 60-year anniversary last year and has never been more ambitious and brave," said BBC Director of Drama. She also had this to say about the BBC's risk-taking: "There’s something about this moment, the current climate in our industry, that makes our approach to risk even more essential. While others might become more cautious, we will go further to take the risks others won’t – to task all the producers and creatives in this room to keep pushing those boundaries, and to venture into the creative unknown. And real risk-taking is also about protecting those dangerous moments in scripts, those moments where you sit up and think: ‘Wow, I’ve never seen that before’ or ‘Are you allowed to do that?!’". www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-ambitious-brave-newsupdate/Do you reckon they'll take the risk of writing something good for a change?

Drivel. Just like the scripts.
As for jumping on the Beatles bandwagon.... ooh that's taking a big risk that is! 😆

Drivel. Just like the scripts. As for jumping on the Beatles bandwagon.... ooh that's taking a big risk that is! 😆 A year or so ago I suggested a Massacre-type story involving the Doctor and his companion arriving in the heart of Munich in the midst of the second World War and encountering Sophie Scholl and the White Rose Movement. Sophie and the movement were anti Nazi activist who committed treason by spreading anti-war leaflets at the university. They were later executed. I think having figures like that on the program would be far more of a risk than a Beatles related story because it would not involve any monsters (only human ones) and harken back to the tragedy historicals of the Hartnell era where things couldn't be fixed by a simple wave of the screwdriver. This probably won't ever happen which is a shame because I don't think Sophie's story has ever been covered in a television show before. Jokes on me though, asking for something thoughtful from this show.

It's annoying the blu ray is a) out of print and b) so expensive because I would have picked that up instead. I have the book Sophie Scholl and the White Rose too.

It's well worth a go, if you don't mind it being in German language. I can't remember if it's dubbed or not. I've only watched it in German with subtitles.
