I've managed to ignore my initial curiosity. Going to make my way through Series 3 of Red Dwarf tonight instead.

Weird. One thing I did notice was that Susan Twist is credited as a "Mrs. Merridrew" at the end, but there is no such character in the episode.

I didn't watch it I'm afraid. Was watching Married with Children instead.
"You know when you insult my wife, you don't insult me."
"Well what'd he say Al?"
"Nothing I haven't said."
I also watched the Go With Him MWC episode, which is one of my favourites. When Al says it's a song from my youth and Peg says "look it's a wheel?" that still kills me.

According to some of my friends on twitter, they made Isaac Newton mixed race, had the Doctor go on about how hot he was, and Donna say she always thought the Doctor was gay (ignoring Rose and River I suppose?) Also they confirmed the Timeless Children.

Pretty decent two hander I thought
...But race-swapped Issac Newton and rewriting one line of history without reversing it? In some corners of fandom, that's a paddlin'

All the Isaac Newton and "Mavity" stuff was stupid but it was generally enjoyable. Monsters were definitely intriguing but the way it resolved felt like the average Capaldi episode; it left me with that oh-so-familiar hint of dissatisfaction.

I gave in eventually (I have no willpower)
Better than last week's dross, but still not that special. Clearly the Doctor finding Newton hot is foreshadowing Ncuti's version of the character. I also found the references to Flux a bit weird. Did half of the audience even watch that story? The CGI is beyond dreadful in this too. Where is all that Disney money? It clearly isn't on the screen! I liked seeing Wilf at the end and the cliffhanger, but RTD has dressed up another mid series filler episode as an anniversary special. There's nothing whatsoever to indicate that these specials are celebrations of anything.

I enjoyed this quite a bit, except for the Isaac Newton joke that seemed to go nowhere. Was wonderful to see Bernard Cribbins again.

It all rests on The Giggle now. It has the lure of The Toymaker and Mel at least.

I didn't bother with it - I watched the Peter Cushing Doctor Who And The Daleks film instead.

Did half of the audience even watch that story? Mind you, Davies’ new episodes don’t seem to have a substantial audience either…
