It's the Wirrn. It looks like the Doctor and Donna are on some kind of colony ship, and something peers through the ventilation shaft at them in the trailer. "Wild Blue Yonder" sounds like a reference to man's first forays into the final frontier. There are yellow stripes which look somewhat similar to the ones seen in the Ark in Space. All three specials are based on old Doctor Who stories from each decade going back: Star Beast (80s), Wild Blue Yonder (70s), Giggle (60s). Star Beast also references a scene from Stones of Blood, which contains a Wirrn. I've also heard somewhere that Ark in Space is RTD's favourite Dr. Who story.

It doesn't matter what it's going to be, it will get rave reviews regardless. I think even if the episode consisted of a static shot of a bag of dogshit for 60 minutes (a bit like Warhol's Empire State Building film) people would still go crazy for it.

As ClockworkOcean pointed out these fanatics on places like Gallifrey Reddit and Gallifrey Base are so loyal to the brand that it really doesn't matter what it does.

Bingo. If they haven't turned on this fartwaffle by now they never will. They're not fans, they're consumers. The drooling zombies our corporate masters wish we all were.

Given the location it takes place in, it might be a more "high sci-fi" concept episode. The setting is probably going to be very important I'd imagine the location may be dynamic "resetting" itself perhaps controlled by an AI, sort of like that space station from the Two Doctors. Though its hard to imagine Russell writing something without an indirect villain, and something clever. So the wyrm prediction is probably correct, and there is going to be something about the setting being empty that will play importance.
Smile + Ark in Space is my guess for the story it will be a bit like Voyage of the Damned, but happen in the aftermath of the disaster.

So we've seen RTD wank all over a beloved comic story and Genesis, now we get to watch him spunk over his "supposed" favourite story. You know, that he hasn't watch in f*ck knows how long.
Bloody hell he seemingly based most of Tennant's character around one speech from Ark, I dread to think how this will turn out.

I'm surprised they even bother with the science fiction elements. I've heard so many NuWho fans try and claim Doctor Who is a fantasy series, almost like a fairytale. I think most NuWho fans have very little interest in science fiction, especially in "high sci-fi" stuff like The Ark in Space.

The latest photo from the official twitter/X account of the TARDIS stuck in a tree, coupled with Tennant's tease that an apple is used early on, has fans speculating and probably correctly deducing the opening scene has something to do with Isaac Newton

Apparently Frobisher might be in it too. Literally the only thing they have is bringing old shit back It's called an anniversary special. Wait till you hear what they did for the 20th anniversary.

Well as Rob said to you back in 2007 Rani, the Five Doctors was written by a good DW writer this is written a fanboy hack, though I think he was wrong to call RTD a fanboy personally. Fanfic by fanboy hacks is usually better because there is at least some love in there for it.
